A meeting of the Planning Subcommittee was held on October 26, 1978 at 3:00 P.M.
in the City Manager's office. Present were: Chairman Jack Sargent, City Manager
Tiffany, Ruth Alice Ray, Nick Jones, Jim Meginley, and Deborah Caplan.
The first order of business to come up was the problems of Section 26-10 in the
zoning code preface, which allows an unoccupied building to go to a lower zoning
classification in a higher zone under a CUP. After brief discussion motion was made
by Mr. Meginley, seconded by Mr. Jones and carried to submit a formal recommendation
to the P&Z Commission for an amendment to Section 26-10 eliminating the provision
allowing the lower uses.
Mrs. Ray recommended the agenda for the P&Z Commission be changed to hear old
business first, Public Hearing, then new business. A two-fold reason was given for
the change: the first, to give the applicants of the public hearing time to appear,
and secondly, to give the P&Z members time to consider and discuss the recommendation.
