following Council Members in attendance: Mayor Pro Tem Turville,

NRG INCINERATOR PROJECT
City Manager Saunders informed the Council that he would be attending
a meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning for the city representatives
to meet with county representatives and their consultants concerning the
proposed incinerator project with NRG. He informed the Council that he
would be attending all of the meetings regarding this project because
should such a facility be constructed, all of the cities would be asked
to sign'an interlocal agreement with the county. City Manager Saunders
stated that he would keep the Council informed of the meetings with the
county.
KU KLUX KLAN RALLY
City Manager Saunders informed the Council that he had received a
telephone call from Tony Bastanzio, Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan,
that his organization would be holding a rally at Clermont City Hall
on Saturday, June 4, 1988 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
COALITION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
It was explained that several months ago the City of Clermont had been
asked to join the Coalition of Local Governments at an approximate cost
to the city of $750. Since that time the City of Clermont has requested
additional information from the coalition as to their role in the recent
Florida Power rate cases. It was also discussed that Florida Power Corp-
oration had indicated that the Public Service Commission and Public
Counsel acted in the best interest of the cities and they felt an addi-
tional "watchdog" was not necessary.
Mr. Saunders stated that he had receieved the information that was re-
quested, and that we had planned to have a joint meeting with the
Coalition, Lake County and Florida Power. However, Lake County has
decided not to consider becoming a member at this time, as well as the
cities of Tavares and Apopka. It was the consensus of Council to take
another look at this membership next year.
FLORIDA ROCK INDUSTRIES SPILL
Mayor Pro Tem Turville presented Council with an overview of the
approximately 12 acre spill which occurred at Florida Rock Industries,
south of Clermont on Highway 474 which has destroyed approximately 12
acres of wetlands.
He explained what he was trying to do in this situation and asked the
Council if they would be interested in taking a position on this matter
during a regular Council Meeting. After some further discussion, the
Council agreed to take this matter up at a regularly scheduled meeting
in order to present an official position.

YMCA
City Manager Saunde~s explained that he had been contacted by the
YMCA and requested that a Workshop be scheduled between the City
Council and representatives of the YMCA to discuss the Y's use
of approximately 2.5 acres of the Twelfth Street recreation site
for their swimming pool.
Mr. Saunders further explained that the YMCA would like a final
answer of either yes or no so they could plan for the future.
After considerable discussion, it was the consensus of Council to
hold a workshop with the YMCA on this subject to see in what way
they might help the YMCA. However, the Council preferred that the
YMCA seek another location for the swimming pool so that the Y
would not be limited in the future to the 2.5 acres.
CLERMONT NIGHT AT BOARDWALK AND BASEBALL
Council Member Dupee informed the Council that Monday night, June 13th
has been designated Clermont Night at Boardwalk and Baseball, and that
free tickets will be provided for all Clermont residents. The tickets
will be available through the South Lake Kiwanis Club, at the South
Lake Press, Gatorland Meats, and City Hall.
There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
