11-06-1991 Special Meeting CITYOF CLERMONT MINUTES SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 6, 1991 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the held Wednesday, November 6, 1991 in the City The meeting was called to order at 8:05 a.m. following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist and Council Member were Finance Director/City Clerk Van Zile Brandt. a City of Clermont was Hall Conference Room. by Mayor Pool with the Council Member Cole, Dupee. Also present and Deputy City Clerk It was explained that the purpose of this meeting was to canvass the ballots of the General Election held November 5, 1991. City Clerk Van Zile read the totals of the vote from the Supervisor of Elections Office, and the results of the election were as follows: COUNCIL MEMBER GROUP IV ANN DUPEE 402 EDWARD IVEY 578 After the reading of the results, A MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCIL MEMBER NOROUIST, SECONDED HY COUNCIL MEMBER COLE AND IINANIMOUSLY CARRIED THAT THE CERTIFICATE OF RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD TIIESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1991, BE ACCEPTED AND TO DECLARE EDWARD IVEY ELECTED TO COUNCIL SEAT GROUP IV. After canvassing the ballots, a brief discussion ensued concerning the outcome of Tuesday night's Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting. It was reported by Mayor Pool that the Planning and Zoning Commission had unanimously recommended approval of the proposed shopping center to be located on Grand Highway, north of the present Quincy's Restaurant. It was also reported that the Hurtaks, owners of South Lake Plaza, had a release clause in the leases of Publix and K Mart and the stores they now occupy in South Lake Plaza would not sit vacant for the remainder of the leases should they move to the new shopping center. Council Member Dupee stated that she had spoken with Mr. Hurtak concerning the possibility of the City purchasing the K Mart portion of the shopping center for city hall and he had been receptive to the idea and would be willing to discuss it with City Staff. Mrs. Dupee further stated that this was another option the City could consider for a city hall site. Mrs. Dupee also reminded those present that Wednesday, November 13, 1991, was Adolphus Church Appreciation Day and tickets for the appreciation dinner were available at her office at $10.00. Mrs. Dupee also stated that she would like the Council to consider naming one of the Little League Fields after Mr. Church who has devoted considerable time throughout the years to Little League and the children of Clermont. Council Member Cole asked if any information had been received concerning the cause of the fire that distroyed the apartments on Desoto Street. No one had heard the results of the Fire Marshall's investigation. A brief discussion of the area ensued and City Clerk Van Zile stated that the building in question was under Condemnation Proceedings filed by City Attorney Baird.
