SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
OCTOBER 9, 1991
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held Wednesday, October 9, 1991, in the City Hall Conference Room.
The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Mayor Pool with the
following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist,
Council Member Dupee and Council Member Cole. Other City Officials
present were City Manager Saunders, City Attorney Baird, City Clerk
Van Zile, and Deputy City Clerk Brandt.
It was explained that the purpose of this meeting was to canvass
the ballot of the Primary Election held October 8, 1991. City
Clerk Van Zile read the totals of the vote from the Supervisor of
Elections Office, and the results of the election were as follows:
COUNCIL MEMBER GROUP II
Hal Turville 477
Pat Daly 53
Bobby Duncan 193
It was explained that because incumbent Council Member Turville had
won the majority of the votes in the Primary Election, he would not
have to stand for election during the City's General Election to be
held Tuesday, November 5, 1991.
91-203 A MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCIL MEMBER COLE SECONDED BY COUNCIL
MEMBER DIIPEE AND UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED THAT THE CERTIFICATE OF
RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD TUESDAY OCTOBER 8 1991 BE
ACCEPTED AND TO DECLARE HAL TURVILLE ELECTED TO COUNCIL SEAT GROUP
II.
After canvassing the ballot, City Manager Saunders stated that the
Randall house, which the City recently purchased, was in very bad
shape and needed to be demolished. Mr. Saunders further stated
that he did not know how much this would cost, but that he wanted
to contact various individuals to get prices. It was also
mentioned that one individual might tear the house down for the
salvaged materials in the house.
After a brief discussion, it was the consensus of the Council to
get prices for demolition and bring the matter back before the
Council during a regular meeting.
Also briefly discussed was the possibility of purchasing other
property in the one block area downtown, to be included with the
property the City already owns, as a possible future site for City
Hall or expansion of~Jenkins Auditorium. City Manager Saunders
stated that he would be meeting with Mrs. Wilkens in November to
discuss her property. It was the consensus of Council to explore
this and other options in the area.
There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 8:25
a.m.
