10-09-1991 Special Meeting• ~ CITYOF CLERMONT MINUTES SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 9, 1991 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Wednesday, October 9, 1991, in the City Hall Conference Room. The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Mayor Pool with the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist, Council Member Dupee and Council Member Cole. Other City Officials present were City Manager Saunders, City Attorney Baird, City Clerk Van Zile, and Deputy City Clerk Brandt. It was explained that the purpose of this meeting was to canvass the ballot of the Primary Election held October 8, 1991. City Clerk Van Zile read the totals of the vote from the Supervisor of Elections Office, and the results of the election were as follows: COUNCIL MEMBER GROUP II Hal Turville 477 Pat Daly 53 Bobby Duncan 193 It was explained that because incumbent Council Member Turville had won the majority of the votes in the Primary Election, he would not have to stand for election during the City's General Election to be held Tuesday, November 5, 1991. 91-203 A MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCIL MEMBER COLE SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER DIIPEE AND UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED THAT THE CERTIFICATE OF RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD TUESDAY OCTOBER 8 1991 BE ACCEPTED AND TO DECLARE HAL TURVILLE ELECTED TO COUNCIL SEAT GROUP II. After canvassing the ballot, City Manager Saunders stated that the Randall house, which the City recently purchased, was in very bad shape and needed to be demolished. Mr. Saunders further stated that he did not know how much this would cost, but that he wanted to contact various individuals to get prices. It was also mentioned that one individual might tear the house down for the salvaged materials in the house. After a brief discussion, it was the consensus of the Council to get prices for demolition and bring the matter back before the Council during a regular meeting. Also briefly discussed was the possibility of purchasing other property in the one block area downtown, to be included with the property the City already owns, as a possible future site for City Hall or expansion of~Jenkins Auditorium. City Manager Saunders stated that he would be meeting with Mrs. Wilkens in November to discuss her property. It was the consensus of Council to explore this and other options in the area.
