WORKSHOP MEETING
JANUARY 16, 1990
A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held Tuesday, January 16, 1990 in the City Hall Conference Room.
The meeting was called to orderat 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Pool with the
following Council Members in attendance: Mayor Pro Tem Turville,
Council Member Cole, Council Member Dupee and Council Member
Norquist. Other City Officials present were City Manager Saunders,
City Attorney Baird, and Planning Director McAllister. Also
present were Dennis Horton, Bob Wade, Rick McCoy, and Scott
Feldman.
Mayor Pool stated that the main purpose of the workshop was to
discuss the proposed fill project for the approximately 19 acre
Wade property located north and east of Quincy's restaurant.
Rick McCoy, Eningeer for the project, gave an overview of the
proposed undertaking and indicated on an aerial photo and his
drawings where the fill would be placed and the type of slopes that
would be produced. This was followed by a question and answer
session.
City Manager Saunders then stated that the Council should go
through each condition of the proposed conditional use permit and
discuss each one individually.
After considerable discussion of the conditions as listed and the
proposed changes to those conditions, Mssrs. Wade, Horton, Feldman
and McAllister left the meeting at 10:05.
TWO CLERK REQUIREMENTS IN CONVENIENCE STORES
City Manager Saunders stated that he had received a letter from
County Ccmmissioner Bakich requesting the Council's written
position on the issue of requiring two clerks in convenience stores
at all times. It was the consensus of Council that the time period
for the request was too short in order for the Council have a
consensus opinion of the controversial subject.
MEDIAN LANDSCAPING WEST OF TWELFTH STREET
The next item discussed was the proposed landscaping of the medians
west of Twelfth Street. It was the consensus of Council to proceed
with the bidding of the project.
PROPOSED PURCHASE OF THE BEAVER PROPERTY
Another item discussed was the proposed purchase of the Seaver
property located adjacent to the present Public Safety Building for
future expansion. It was explained that Mr. Seaver had provided
the City a copy of an appraisal done for him by Appraisal Services
of Central Florida. It was the consensus of Council that the City
should contract with an appraiser to have an appraisal done for the
City prior to the purchase of the property. This will be on the

agenda of the next regularly scheduled meeting.
NO TRESPASSING SIGNS
Mayor Pool then asked if "No Trespassing" signs could be placed
around the Palatlakaha Recreation Area project site. City Manager
Saunders stated that he would do so.
There being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 10:25
p.m.
