MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
July 15, 1980
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont
was held Tuesday, July 15, 1980 in the office of the City Manager
for the purpose of discussing Wastewater Alternatives. The meeting
was called to order at 6:10 p.m. by Mayor Smoak with the following
Councilmen in attendance: Carlisle Byrd, Lester Cole, Bob Pool
and Dennis Thomas. Other City Officials present were City Manager
Forbes, City Attorney Baird, Finance Director Saunders and City
Clerk Rozar.
There was some discussion on the decision by the Lake County Pol-
lution Control Board approving the City's proposal for landspreading
at the Lake Sheperd Groves site.
Councilman Pool presented a site alternative for consideration.
C. M. Pool and Sons offered 25 acres of land and a 5 acre lake
available for purchase immediately, 20 acres of adjoining land
that can be leased for three years with option to buy ($500 per
acre), and 20 acres of adjoining land that can be purchased ln
1982. The price of this land would be $7,000 per acre.
Councilman Thomas related he had done some research on effluent
disposal on golf courses and asked that Council table any action
at this meeting pursuing other concepts to allow time for further
research into the golf course concept.
80-113 A MOTION WAS MADE BY COUNCILMAN THOMAS AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN
POOL THAT THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ENGINEER CONFER WITH THE
REGULATORY AGENCIES TO DEEM THE FEASIBILITY OF THE POOL PROPERTY
PROPOSED IN RELATION TO THE LAKE SHEPERD GROVES PROPERTY AND ALSO
THE CONCEPT OF THE GOLF COURSE PROPOSAL. COUNCILMAN BYRD MADE
A MOTION TO AMEND THE MOTION ~ri)'ITH COUNCILMAN COLE SECONDING THAT
A TIME LIMIT BE SET FOR DETERMINING A CONCEPT AND THAT A REPORT BE
GIVEN ON THE FEASIBILITY OF BOTH PROPOSALS AT THE NEXT SCHEDULED
REGULAR MEETING, JULY 22, 1980. THE MOTION WAS CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
