MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE CITY OF ORLANDO, ORLANDO POLICE
DEPARTMENT and the MOUNT DORA POLICE DEPARTMENT,
CLERMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT and LEESBURG POLICE
DEPARTMENT
regarding
the use of the Super Kids Curriculum
This Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter referred to as "MOU") is made and entered
into by and between City of Orlando, Orlando Police Department, (hereinafter referred to as
"OPD") and the City of Mount Dora, Mount Dora Police Department (hereinafter referred to as
"MDPD'�; the City of Clermont, Clermont Police Department (hereinafter referred to as
"CPD"); the City of Leesburg, Leesburg Police Department (hereinafter referred to as "LPD");
the above mentioned agencies (hereinafter referred to as the "Parties") agree as follows:
WHEREAS; OPD has created and developed a curriculum titled "Super Kids" where sworn
officers teach children valuable lessons including, but not limited to, topics such as bullying,
peer pressure, positive choices, internet safety, violence, consequences and decision -making
skills; and
WHEREAS; OPD has obtained a Copyright on the publication of the curriculum with all
rights reserved. Except as permitted under the United States Copyright Act of 1976, no part of
this publication may be reproduced or distributed in any form by any means, or stored in a
database retrieval system, without the prior written permission of OPD; and
WHEREAS; MDPD, CPD and LPD recognize the value of this curriculum and request
OPD's permission to utilize the curriculum with children in Lake County schools; and
WHEREAS; OPD strives to maintain the integrity of the Super Kids curriculum and ensure
that any use of the curriculum is consistent with the publications and materials; and
WHEREAS; the purpose of this MOU is to establish the terms and conditions under which
MDPD, CPD and LPD can use the Super Kids curriculum and to provide written permission to
said agencies to use the Super Kids curriculum.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Parties agree as follows:
1. MDPD, CPD and LPD can use the Super Kids copyrighted publications and materials for
the purpose of implementing the Super Kids program in Lake County schools. MDPD,
CPD and LPD officerstrepresentatives will adhere to the program and materials as
written.
2. OPD will provide each agency with a digital version of the materials with their respective
agency name on the cover and language added on the copyright page indicating that
permission was granted to use the materials.
3. Each respective police department is responsible for making the amount of reproductions
of the copyrighted materials required for their program and the costs thereof.
4. Any changes, by addition or omission, cannot be made without the express permission of
OPD.
5. OPD reserves the right to revoke said permission at any time with or without cause.
6. OPD is the only agency permitted to train officers to teach the Super Kids program. Other
agencies will coordinate with OPD to receive such training.
7. This MOU shall not be amended except in writing and executed by the Parties.
The duly authorized representatives have executed this MOU on dates set out below, and certify
that they have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions of this MOU as set forth
herein. The effective date(s) of this MOU for MDPD, CPD and LPD is the date of each agency's
respective signature.
