and Derow Poynter. A representative of the local Press was also present.
The Invocation was given by Councilman VanderMeer.
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on June 10, 1969 were approved
as written.
Mrs. Regina Labbate, President of the Clermont Garden Club, appeared before
the Council and requested that the Council release and/or waive the re-
gulation requiring off-street parking at the new Club building under con-
struction on Lots 10-11-12 and 13 of City Block 90. Inasmuch as all the
Councilmen were not acquainted with the location or had considered the
matter previously, motion was made by Councilman Oswalt, seconded by
Councilman Cochran and carried that any action on this matter be postponed
until the next Regular meeting. Mayor Smith advised Mrs. Labbate that it
would be necessary for a representative of the Garden Club to make appli-
cation to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for a variance in the Zoning
Regulations, w~ich would be considered by them at the next meeting after
having been advertised in the local paper as required.
City Controller Fleming reported as follows: That July 1, 1969 the final
outstanding City of Clermont bonds, dating from 1939, would be redeemed
in the amount of $24,000.00 plus interest, thereby eliminating all bonded
indebtedness of the city; That the 1969 tax roll on Real Property had been
extended and showed an approximate increase in valuation of $588,000.00,
and, that the Personal Property tax roll had not been extended as yet, but
it appeared there would be a possible reduction in this roll.
City Attorney Langley reported that he had mailed the approximate twenty
to twenty-five Easements necessary for the proposed sewer system installa-
tion to be executed by out-of-town/state property owners.
Mayor Smith reported that he had not as yet received permission from the
State Road Department to erect the "We1come to C1ermont" signs on State
Road Department right-of-ways, but hoped to have an answer soon.
Councilman Cochran inquired of the City Manager as to vacant lot clean-ups
and he was advised that the necessary notices to property owners to have
their lots mowed/cleaned were mailed this date.
Motion was made by Councilman VanderMeer, seconded by Councilman Oswalt
and carried that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary
amendment to the Pension Plan Ordinance (by deleting the final sentence
of Paragraph C in Section 16-5 of the Code) whereby normal pension credits
would continue to those persons continuing in the employ of the city after
normal retirement age of 6S.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Smith.
