CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
A Public Hearing will be conducted on Tuesday, February 22, 1972 at 10:30 A.M.
in the Board Room, Lake County Courthouse, to determine the social, economic and
environmental merits of a proposed airport approximately 13 miles south of
Clermont. A Conditional Use Permit has been granted to the Florida Development
and Attractions, Inc. by the Board of County Commissioners to construct,
maintain and operate the airport facilities in Lake County. Site plan approval
for the airport will be issued on or after March 22, 1972 as determined by the
Hearing. Copies of the Airport Hearing Notice of Intent have been furnished
to members of the Council and the City Attorney.
In an effort to close the communications gap between local and federal government
and to provide information about federal programs, Senator Lawton Chiles has
called a special meeting for Monday, February 14 in Lake1and. The meeting will
bring together representatives of 12 major federal agencies. Study groups
will be held in each subject area.
The annual United Cenebra1 Palsy Telethon will be telecast over WDBO-TV, Channel
6, from 11 P.M., Saturday, February 12, until 4:30 P.M., Sunday, February 13,
from the Orlando Municipal Auditorium.
Representing Clermont, Mayor Smith will appear on the telecast's VIP Panel from
12 midnight until 12:30 A.M. on February 12. Citizens of Clermont are encouraged
to support the United Cerebral Palsy effort and to call the Mayor while he is
on the program to make their pledges.
