12-06-1972 Special Meeting . . MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING NQ 853 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the office of the City Manager on Wednesday, December 6, 1972. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by Mayor Pro-Tern Charles B. Beals with the following members present: Councilwoman Watson and Councilman Schroede1. Other officials present were: City Manager Hopkins, City Clerk Carroll and Chief of Police Tynda 1 . Councilman Beals advised the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the ballot and check the Certificate of Result of the General Election of the City of Clermont held on December 5, 1972. Mayor Oon E. Smith arrived at this time. Upon canvassing the ballot and checking the Certificate of Result by Council, motion was made by Councilman Schroede1, seconded by Councilwoman Watson and unanimously carried that it be RESOLVED that the Certificate of Result of the General Election of the City of Clermont, Florida held on Tuesday, December 5, 1972 be accepted and that a copy of the result be received into these minutes and made a part thereof and be it FURTHER RESOLVED in accordance with the result of the General Election That CHARLES B. BEALS be, and is hereby declared, elected to the office of Councilman in Group One (1) of the City of Clermont for a two year term commencing on the second Tuesday in January of 1973; That DON .E;'SMITH be, and is hereby declared, elected to the office of Mayor- Councilman in Group Three (3) of the City of Clermont for a two year term commencing on the second Tuesday in January of 1973; That as none of the candidates for Councilman in Group Five (5) received a majority of the votes cast it is necessary that the two candidates receiving the greater number of votes, namely Carlisle A. Byrd, Jr. and Mrs. Johnnie P. Watson, enter the run-off election of the City of Clermont to be held on Tuesday, December 19, 1972, and that the candidate receiving the greater number of votes in said run-off election shall be declared elected to the office of Councilman for Group Five (5), City of Clermont, for a two year term commencing on the second Tuesday in January of 1973; and be it STILL FURTHER RESOLVED and declared that upon qualification of said officers elected, and to be elected, as aforesaid, that they shall assume the duties of such office to which they are elected and hold the same and perform the duties prescribed by law.
