An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the Administration Building on Tuesday,
November 21, 1961. The meet~ng was called to order at 7.30
p. m. by Council Chairman Clarence Bishop with all council
members present. Other city officials present were: Mayor
Bon Jorn, Attorney Morse, Superintendent Sheldon, Inspector
Snyder, Police Chief Tyndal and City Clerk Johnson. Visitors
present were: Mr. Marvin Algood and Mr. Sam Parker who spoke
to the Council regarding the painting of City water tanks and
Mr. Albert O'Neal who spoke to the Council regarding a sewer
system for the City. No act+on was taken regarding either
matter. A representative of the local press was also present.

Mayor Bon Jorn submitted a proposed letter from the City
of Clermont to the Tavares & Gulf Railroad agreeing to the
closing of the Clermont agency. The Council did not think
that such action would be to the best interest of Clermont
and, therefore, no action was taken.
Mayor Bon Jorn also recommended that some action be taken
regarding the building of driveways in the city. No action
was taken.
Motion was made by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. Pool, and
carried, that the City Clerk be authorized to solicit bids
on two trucks, one street marking machine and one welding
machine - all specifications to be furnished to the Clerk by
Superintendent Sheldon.
The matter of water drainage from the South end of Sunset
Drive was discussed. Council members appeared to be in agreement
that nothing could be done about the matter.
Clerk Johnson was requested to 'phone Dr. Adamann regarding
the engineering work on the water system.
Clerk Johnson was requested to obtain prices on one and
two shuffle board courts from Mr. Nidy of Winter Park.

Mr. Boyd reported that there was a possibility that the

County would share on a fifty--fifty basis the resurfacing
of Hook Street. Mr. Boyd was requested to investigate the
matter further and report back to the Council.
Motion was made by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. Turville,
and carried, that the Clerk be authorized to pay one half of
the amount of a bill of $173.33 for sidewalk repairs adjacent
to Grace Baptist Church.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mrs. Betty Daniel expressing
her thanks to City officials for their cooperation and
assistance.

Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mr. H. C. Hobson requesting
that the City lease lake frontage lying directly south of Lots
49 and 50, Clermont Heights, to Mr. Robert Paxton. A check
in the amount of $10.00 was attached. Motion was made by Mr.
Boyd, seconded by 11r. Turville, and carried, that the City
execute an easement to Mr. Paxton on the lake frontage in
question when deeds properly conveying Lots 49 and 50, Clermont
Heights, have been recorded.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Cooper Memorial Library
thanking the Council for the financial assitance extended the
library.
Motion was made by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. Turvilllle and
carried, that Clerk Johnson and Superintendent Sheldon be
authorized to dispose of the pumping equipment, removed from
the Highland Avenue pumping station, at the best price possible.
Motion was made by Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Turville,
and carried, that Council Chairman Bishop be authorized to
execute a certificate of Zoning approval for the operation of
a retail beer establishment in Cozy Kastle by William Cooper.
Motion by Mr. Turville, seconded by lir. Boyd and carried,
that the request of E. P. williams to operate a retail beer
establishment on Highlands Avenue in the 400 block be refused.
Meeting adjourned until Monday, November 27, 1961 at
