05-26-1961 Special Meeting SPECIAL MEETING ~ A special called meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Friday - Miy 26, 1961. The meeting was called to order by Council Chairman Clarence Bishop at 2:15 P.M.. with all Council members present. Other officials present were: City Attn'Y. Morse, Building Ins- pector Snyder and Clerk Johnson. Motion was made by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. Pool and unani- mously carried that the rule of "written notice for special meeting" be waived and that the Council proceed with the business at hand. It was brought to the attention of the Council that the local plumbing code had been violated by the installation of plumbing by a person not licensed by the City of Clermont, and by not having secured a plumbing permit prior to dm~g the work. It was also brought tm the attention of the Council tha) while this work had been done outside of the city limits, that property owner was a customer of the city water department, and that under the terms of our plumbing code, all of its conditions must be met by any person using water from our water supply. The property in question is lo- cated on Highway 27 south of Clermont and is owned by Walker and Boykin. Motion was made by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. y'ork and unani- mously carried that the City building Inspector and a locally l~cen~ sed master plumber make an inspection of the property in question, and that if it meets with local plumbing code specifications that it be accepted, and that if the work fails to pass inspection that the I owner be given a reasonable length of time to have the necessary C~= rection made by a plumber licensed by the City of Clermont. The matter of the operation of a real estate office in a residentai1 area, with such real estate office occupying more than twenty-five per cent of the floor area, was discussed. This matter had been considered by the Building Committee and themrr~eoommen- dation to the Council was that the Zoning Code be strictly enforced. Motion was made by Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Boyd and car~ied, that the recommeddation of the Building Committee be accepted and that Attn'y. Morse be requested to advise Mrs. Lockmlller~ operator of the office under discussion, that within thirty (30) days from date of her original notice from Attn'y. Morse (May 18, 1961), vio- lation of the Zoning Code must be dis-continued on that penalties as provided under Section 12 of the Ordinance will be enforced. Motion was made"by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. York and carried, that the city purchasing agent be ~uthorized to waive the rule of securing bids and to proceed with the purChase of a chlorinator of the type recommended by the Water Committee.
