A special meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday -
April 25, 1961.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Council
Chairman Clarence Bishop with all Council members present except
Charles Pool. Others present were: Mayor BonJorn, City Sup't.
Sheldon and Clerk Johnson.
Chairman Bishop stated that the purpose of the meeting was
to discuss means of alleviating the existing water shortage. A
general discussion of the matter followed, and it was agreed that
the City proceed with the expansion program as recommended by Mr.
Edward Fishback and M. E. Ardman. It was further decided to pro-
ceed immediately with increasing the present pumping capacity, if
possible, of the existing well on Highlands Avenue, by the install-
ation of new pumping equipment, and to use the water from the well
on Highland and Disston Avenue even if an increased use of chlorine
is thereby required.
The Water Committee was authorized to proceed with securing
bids on the necessary facilities.
Mr. Boyd, Chairman of the Water Committee, stated that his
present schedule was as follows: (1) Have drawdown of Highland
Avenue well checked. (2)Determine if the pump on Highland Avenue
is producing maximum capacity, and, if not, to have specifications
written for a new pump,and,if necessary, a new motor. (3) Write
bid specifications for a new well and pumping equipment to be ad-
vertised. (4) Have entire water supply system checked for leaks.
(5) Have check~lves checked in order to determine if water is
leaking back into wells. (6) Make a study of entire water distri-
bution system and make recommendations for future expansion.
(7) Include master water meters in overall program.
The program as outlined by Mr. Boyd was acceptable to the.
Council.
Motion by Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Turville and carried, that
meeting adjourn.
