ADJOURNED MEETING

An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday
September 20, 1960. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
by Council Chairman G. Y. Middleton with the following members present:
York, Christenson and Roe. Absent: Bishop. Other officials present
were: Mayor BonJorn, Clerk Johnson, Deputy Clerk Williams, City Attn'y.
Morse, Sup't. Sheldon, Inspector Snyder and Chief of Police Tyndal.
Others present were: Messrs. Ray Cochran, Cody Johnson and Barney
Prescott. Representative of the Orlando Sentinel was also present..
The minutes of the regular meeting held $uesday - September 6, 1960
and of the Special meeting held Thursday - September 15, 1960, were read
and approved.
Mr. Ray Cochran appeared before the Council in behalf of the
Clermont Lions Club and requested permission for the Lions Club to
operate a three ring circus on December 10, 1960, and, the City to waive
the Occupational License Tax fee. Motion was made by Mr. Roe, seconded
by Mr. Christenson and carried, that the City waive the Occupational
License fee for the Clermont Lions Club to operate a circus on December
10, 1960.
Mr. Barney Prescott appeared before the Council with regards to
the proposed '60-'61 budget of the Chamber of Commerce which had been
submitted to the Council for their consideration. Mr. Prescott was
advised that the budget had been filed with the City's budget prepara-
tion sheets and would be given every consideration at the Budget meeting.
Mr. Cody Johnson appeared before the Council with regards to his
request for the acquiring of a small strip of land along Minnehaha Avenue
and adjacent to Winona Shores. Mr. Johnson was advised that his request
had been granted subject to all terms of the Subdivision Ordinance.
Mayor BonJorn reported to the Council that he had received a request
for a street light at the corner of Mnmehal:l.adA:v;elllae;'ancl Morning Drive.
The matter was referred to Mr. Bishop, Chr. of the Street Lighting Comm.
Councilman Bishop arrived at the meeting at this time.
Motion was made by Mr. Christenson, seconded by Mr. York and carried
that City Attorney Morse proceed with the acquiring of the necessary
right-o-way of Scott Street, and, if possible, a right-o-way between
Lots 5 & 6 of Block "N".
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Municipal Judge, J. K. Tryon,
wherein he commended City Attorney Morse on the extensive municipal
law and procedure library which he maintains at his own expense.
Mr. Bishop offered and moved the adoption of A RESOLUTION OPPOSING
TREASURY'S PROPOSAL TO TAX INTEREST ON MUNICIPAL BONDS IN THE HANDS OF
INSURANCE COMPANIES. The motion was seconded by Mr. York and carried.
A copy of the RESOLUTION in full appears immediately following these

minutes.
Clerk Johnson was requested to get a price on the repairing of
and moving of the Clermont directional sign now located at Grand. Hwy.
and Highway # 27, to be relocated at the intersection of 8th Street and
Highway # 50.
