ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday,
March l5, 1960. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M.
by chairman G. Y. Middleton with all Council members being
present with the exception of Mr. Christ&nsen. Other officials
present were Mayor Bonjorn, City attorney Morse, Supt. Sheldon,
Police Chief Tyndal, Inspector Snyder and Clerk Johnson.
The minutes of the meeting held on March 1, 1960, were read
and approved.
Mayor BonjoDn suggested that the Police Department sponsor a
Policemans ball in order to raise funds in order to assfutt
people who become stranded in Clermont. Mayor Bonjorn was advised
that the Council had no objectuon to such a plan provided that
it be fully understood that such program was not a part of the
City of Clermonts official functions.
Inspector Snyder, Chief Tyndal and Supt. Sheldon stated that
they had no reports to make nor any matters of business to bring
before the Council.

Mr.Roe, chairman of the Water Committee, reported that Smith and
Gillespie, engineerw, had advised him that they would have their
report in the hand of the Council in the near future.
Mr. York, chairman of the Parks Committee, reported that nothing
had been done about removing the floating docks adjacent to the
Boat ramp at the J. C. Beach and that Mr. Max Berry had offered
to remove the docks for the materials and an additional fee of
fifty dollars. Mr. Sheldon reported that the city could use a part
of the material and could remove the docks for kess than $50.00.
It was decided that the city crews would remove the docks as soon
as possible.
Mr. Bishop, chairman of the Streets Lighting Committee, reported
that he had received a petition requesting a street light at the
intersection of Palm ~ane and Drew Street. Mr. Bishop further
reported that he had investigated the intersection in question;
that .in his opinion a light should be installed, and that he
therefore, recommended and moved that a street be installed at the
intersection of Palm Lane and Drew Street. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Roe and carried.
Mr. Middleton brought to the attention of the Council a letter
from Mr. A. P. Long, protesting the assessed valuation on certain
property in Alta Vista Subdivision. After some discussion Clerk
Johnson was requested to advise Mr. Long that nothing could ,be done
about the matter for the taxable year 1959, inasmuch as the tax
roll had already been officially adopted, but that the matter woula
be brought to the attention of the appraisers when they were again in
Clermont and consideration given to his~.requ~.st.a.t that time.
Mr. Middleton, with the consent of the Council, requested that
City attorn~y Morse determine if title to the canal between ~ake
Winona and ~ake Minnehaha was actually in the name of O. K. Keene,
and if so to prepare a deed from O. K. Keene to the City of Clermont
for such property to be presented at the nexp=Council meeting.
Mr. Middleton further reported that he was unable to make any
recommendations with regards the deeding of certain lands on
the South side of lake Winona to Mr. Daugherty i~asmuch as he
did not understand just what Mr Daugherty desired, or under what
circumstances or agreement he expected sURh lands. City attorney
Morse was requested to invite Mr. Daugherty to be present at the
neoct Council meeting in order that he might explain to the
Council exactly what he had in mind.

Clerk Johnson present bids on Water Department mains and supplies
to the Council at this time. Low bidders were Southern Pipe and
Supply Co., and Hughes Supply Company, but inasmuch as it was
necessary that certain parts of the bids be explained Motion
was made by Roe, seconded by Bishop and carried that the Purchasing
agent make the necessary investigation and award the order to the
low bidder.
Clerk Johnson presented bids on the painting on the interior of
the old city hall at this time. Mr. Bishop was requested to
preside during the consideration of such bids which were as
follows: Leonard Baird: Downstairs: $666.70. Upstairs: $365.00.
Bishop & Hutcherson: Downstairs: 1363.00. Upstairs: $3l4.00.
Motion was made by Roe, seconded by York and carried that the
contract be awarded to Bishop & Hutcherson and that the Purchasing
agent issue a work order for same.
With Mr. G. Y. Middleton again presiding Mr. Snyder, Inspector,
was asked to prepare specifications for offers to bid on intalling
plastic tile on the floors of the police department office, the
Municipal Court room and the downstairs lobby.
Clerk Johnson presented bids for certain work on the City jail
as per specifications in bid requests which were as follows:
Wolfe & Konsler: $228.00. Eric Jensen: $l46.75.
Motion by Roe, seconded by York and carried that the contract
be awarded to the low bidder; Eric Jensen.
Inspector Snyder advised the Council that he had mailed
registered notices of violation to residents who are dumping
waste water in streets or above ground in their yards. The
Council advised inspector Snyder that it was their wishes that
he carry through with this program and see that such existing
violations are corrected.
Chief Tyndal advised the Council that Mr. Miller had served
his probation period as a city police officer and that it was
his recommendation that Mr. Millers salary now be increased to
$300.00 per month.
Motion was made by Mr. Roe, seconded by Mr. Bishop and carried
that upon the recommendation of Police chief Tyndal patrolman
Millers salary be increased to $300.00 monthly, effective March
l5, 1960.
Clerk Johnson requested that the Council retain Auditors for
the fiscal year 1959-60 in order that their services would be
available to him when necessary.
Motion was made by Roe, seconded by Bishop and carried that
Sheppard, Sheppard and Johnson be retained as auditors.for the
City for the fiscal year 1959-l960.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Olivenbaum Insurance Co.,
relative to "Bodily Injury" liability insurance carried by the
Cmty of Clermont.
Motion was made by York, seconded by Bishop and carried that
the city increase the limits on "Bodily Injury" liability insurance
to~$300,000.00 for each person and $300,000.00 for each accident.
Clerk Johnson was requested to contact Olivenbaum Insurance Co.,
and obtain rates on certain additional coverage.
