REGULAR 1'1EETING
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday -
January 5, 1960. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
by Chr. Chas. B. Roe with the following members present: Boyd,
Christenson, Middleton. Absent: Oswalt. Other officials present
were: Clerk Johnson, Deputy Clerk Williams, Mayor Hullinger,
Sup't. Sheldon, Inspector Snyder,Chief of Police Tyndal, City
Attn'y. Morse, Municipal Judge Tryon and patrolman Fullwood. The
newly elected City officers, Clarence Bishop, John York, Joe
BonJorn and a representative of the local press, were also present.
The minutes of the adjourned meeting held December 15,1959
were read and approved.
Mayor Hullinger reported that the oranges had been removed from
Center Lake, and, that befo~completing his tenure in office he
would like to make the following recommendations:
That the City purchase a new police car
That the downtown parking lot be completed soon as possible
Mayor Hullinger further stated that he would like to extend his
thanks to all members of the Council - Chief of Police Tyndal and
Nunicipal Judge Tryon for their splendid cooperation during the
past year.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mr. Elmer Jost protesting
the cost of certain water mains installed in the Chain-o-Lakes
Subdivision and requesting an adjustment on same. Clerk Johnson
also read a letter from Mr. Boyd, Chr. of the Water Committee,to
Mr. Elmer Jost regarding this matter and explaining that the me-
thod used was the most economical. Sup't. Sheldon was directed
to contact y~. Jost and further explain the matter to him.
Mr. Boyd, Chr.Qf the Water Committee, reported on vandalism
at the water tower during the holidays, which had caused an ex-
penditure of something over $300.00 for repairs, which he had autho-
bized. In further connection with the Water Department, Mr. Boyd
recommended that a clock be installed on the city water pumps at
an early date and that master meters be installed as soon as funds
were available, and, that he hoped the present program of water
main expansion would be continued. Motion was made by Mr. Boyd
that in order that the I1ayor and members of the Council might have
some compensation for their services, that beginning January 1,1960
the two new members of the Council and the Mayor receive water and
sanitation services,as pertaining to their immediate residence,
without cost, and, that beginning January 1, 1961 the same compen-
sation be extended to all members of the Council as well as the
~layor. The motion was seconded by t~. Christenson and unanimously
carried.
Chr. Roe requested that Mr. Boyd preside over the meeting
at this time in order that he might move and offer the adoption
of, a RESOLUTION of THANKS to retiring members of the Council -
~~. Wm. Boyd and Mr. V.A.Oswalt. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Middleton and unanimously carried. A copy of the RESOLUTION in
full appears immediately following these minutes.
Mr. Roe again aGsumed the chairmanship of the meeting.
Motion by Mr. Middleton, seconded by Mr. Boyd and carried ,
that the bills be paid.
Mr. Boyd stated that he would like to express his sincerest
thanks to all members of the Council and the Mayor for their
splendid cooperation during his tenure in office and he further
moved that City Attorney Morse prepare a Resolution of Appreciation
to Mayor Hullinger for his services to the City during his tenure
in office. This motion was seconded by Mr. Middleton and carried.
Motion by Mr. Middleton, seconded by Mr. Christenson and
'. carried, that meeting adjourn.
