REGULAR MEETING
A regular meeting of the city Council of the City of Clermont
was held at the city hall on Tuesday, March 3, 1958. The meeting
was called to order by Council President Charles Roe with all
Council members present. Others present were Mayor Keene, City
attorney Morse, Supt. Sheldon, Police chief Parker and Fireman
FUllwood.

The minutes of the meeting held on February 18, 1958 were read
and approved as read.
Mrs. Carrington, chairman of the Building Committee, reported
"
that ~72,800.00 in building permits had been issued since the
18th of February.
Mr. Eharles Roe reported that he had contacted Mr. Bair and that
he expected to have a sample ordinance regarding the control of
water drainage from busine ss buildings within a few day s and that
l\1r. Bair would also have sample ordinances regarding the control
of advertising signs within the city in the near future.
The fOllowing were appointed as members of the L.oning Commission
of the city of Clermont for the year 1958: McQuistion, E. G.
Winston, Gary Viti and I. R. McKinstby. One other member to be
appointed at a later date. Mr. Oswalt voted naye on the foregoing
appointment s.
l\1r. Bishop, chairman of the Streets Committee, presented a petE~tion
from John R. Jones, Dennis Jones and Arminda Clutts, reqmesting that
ttIe city open Chestnut street from Hest Avenue to Eighth street.
After some discussion chairman Roe appointed Bishop, Boyd and
OSttlalt to serve as a special committee to investigate this matt.er
and to report back to the Council with recommendations.
A short discussion took place relative to directional signs.
Mr. Bishop reported on condition of city streets.
Motion was made by Bishop, seconded by Oswalt and carried that
if Messrs. Walton and Schrammel appeal the Disston Avenue street
case decision to the court of appeals that the city attorney take
whatever steps are necessary to represent the city in the appeal.
Chairman Roe directed Supt. Sheldon to make plans to start work
on Disston avenue immediately after ten o'c~ock on March 6th,
1958 provided the decision of the court had not been appealed
by that time.
Mot ion by Boyd, seconded by Bishop and carried that SUT)t.. :Sheld,oh:.1C
contact the firm of Boykin & Elliott and determine if they will
release the city from its contract for the construction of Disston
avenue in order that the city may construct said Disston avenue
with it s own equipment.
Police Chief Parker submitted his report which was accepted
and ordered filed.

Motion by Boyd, seconded by Carrington and carried that bills
be paid.
Motion by Boyd, seconded by Oswalt and carried that a list of
monthly accounts, as ordered paid by the Council, be published
in the local press each week.
Motion by Boyd, seconded by Bishop and carried that meeting
adjourn.
