11-05-1957 Regular Meeting REGULAR MEETING .. A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held at the city hall on Tuesday, November 5, 1957. The meeting was called to o~der by Council President Harold Turville at approximately 8:00 P. M. with the following members present; Turville, Bishop and Van Nostrand. Others present were Myor Keene, City attorney Morse, Supt. Sheldon, Police Cihief Parker, Mr. E. G. Winston, Mr. W. H. McQuistion, Mr Don McCaffrey and Mr. Harry Brown. The minutes of the meeting held on October 15, 1957, were read and approved. Mr. Winston and Mr. McQuistion, members of the city Zoning Commission, spoke to the council regarding the proposed amend~ents to the Zoning Ordinance. My Winston stated that under the provisions of the charter it was necessary for matters pertaining to Zoning to first be referred to the Zoning Commission for their concideration, public hearings and recommendations. After consideration on the matter Chairman Turville referred the proposed changes in the Zoning Ordinance to the Zoning Commission and requested that they give the matter their early consideration and that they report back to the Council their r'ecommendations on or before the next council meeting. . Motion was made by Bishop, seconded by Van Nostrand and carried that the city of Clermont accept the streets in Winona Shore s subdivision. The pavi,ng of the street s in said subdivision having been inspected by Supt. ~heldon and reported by him to be according to city ordinance specifications. The following were appointed to serve on the election Board for the special election to be held Tuesday, November 12, 1957: Clerk: Mr. Mike Potter. Inspectors: Mrs. Jeanne Orr, Mr. William Oliver and Mrs. Frank InniS. The sample ballot prepared by city attorney Morse was inspected by the Council and declared to be in order and the Clerk was instructed to'order~lOOO of such ballots for the special election of November 12, 1957. After Some discussion it was decided that the price which the city would charge for mowing and cleaning vacant lots would be $4.00 per hour with a minimum of $4.00. Police Chief Parker submitted his report. Some discussion took place regarding the report. .. ~ Mayor Keene reported that the Junior Woman's club had requested a street at the Youtn center. Mayor Keene recommended that their request be granted. Motion was made by Van Nostrand, seconded by Bishop and carried that a street light be installed at the Youth Center. Mayor Keene stated that Mr. Rinella of Cash Fruit Company had requested that the city clay a part of Millholland street as an approach to his property. Mayor Keene recommended that consideration be given this matter. Supt. Sheldon was instructed to look into this matter and to report back to the Council with his recommendations and an estimate of the cost. Mayor Keene was requested to issue a proclamation c~lling the general election of December 10, 1957, for the electdon of a Mayor to serve one year, a treasurer to serve one year, and two councilmen to serve two years each. Motion by Bishop, seconded by Van Nostrand that bills be paid. The council checked the registration books and ordered the names of those persons now deceased to be struck from the roll. ..
