REGULAR MEETING
..
A regular meeting ot the city Council of the City of Clermont
was held at the city hall on Tuesday, October 1, 1957.
The meeting was called to order by vice-chairman Charles Roe ,
at 7.30 P. M. with all council members pr6sent with tile exception
of Mr. Turville. others present were Mayor Keene, Supt. Sheldon,
Mr. C. Soott Johnson and Mr. J. P. Leach.

Ilinutes of the meetin,,~eld September 24, 1957, were read and
approved.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mr. 8. Scott Johnson wherein request
was made to the council for ptrmission to operate an Aqua Ammonia
packaging plant at the ,old location ot the O. K. Ice Company.
Mr. Johnson had also made application to the Zoning Board of Appeals
regarding the same subject and Cbiannan Roe read a letter from Mr. Harris,
Chairman ot the Zoning Board ot Appeals, to the effect that the Zoning
Board of appeals had voted unanamously to permit the Producers Supply
and Chemical Company to process Anhydrous Ammonia in to Aqua Ammonia with
the to11owing restrictions. 1. No mixing of Ammonia to other elements
ot fertilizer as a fertilizer mixing plant; 2- storage of Anhydrous AimnOnia
in building not to exceed 16,000 pounds and not more than one tank car
on railroad siding next to building at one time,. 3- In processing
to Aqua .Ammonia temperature of water must be trom 32 to 40 degr:~eo F.
4- All reasonable precautions to be taken by the Company in processing
ot products.
Motion was made by Van Nostrand, seconded by Bishop and carried that
the city Council grant provisional useot the o. K. Ice Company building ,
tor the processing of Anhydrous Ammonia to Aqua Ammollia , to Producers
Supply and Chemical Company with the same rest,rictions as set forth
by the Zoning Board ot Appeals.
Mr. Roe reported that he, Mayor Keene and Clerk Johnson bad visited
Mr. Roy Hamlin, attorney, and discussed the preparation evidence and
intonnation with regards the injunction of the paving of Disston
avenue tiled by Mr. Walton and Mr. Schrammel.

The police report was read by Mayor Keene in the absenoe of Police
c hiet Ps- ker.
Clerk Johnson reported that he had rece! ved a deed trom Morris DeM
and wife Elsie Dean, for lots 3, 4, 5 & 6, 27,28,39 and 30, Block
"I", ' Oakhill Cemetary, to the city of Clermont. Such lots being the
property upon which the mausoleum is located.
Motion was made by Bishop, seconded by ClIrlngton and carried that
the city accept the deed frmn Mr. and Mrs. Dean tor the property upon
which the mausoleum is located and that the clerk record same.
Clerk Johnson read a request from JilIDllY Jones tor pennission to
obtain a license to sell beer at a location on Disston Avenue in
the Lincoln Park area. Pennission was refused due to the location
requested being in a resendencial area.
Motion was made by Van Nostrand, seconded by Carrlngton and carried
that the American Legion be issued a gratis occupational license
for selling soft drinks and sandwiches at their weekly dances.

Supt. Sheldon and Police Chief Parker were directed to have the
necessary signs posted on Lake Shore Drive, Minnehaha Ave~ue and Anderson
street prohibiting said streets to the use of trucks.
Motion by Van Nostrabd, seconded by Bishop and carried that the city
rEmoved the "island" from East avenue in fron of the cemetary.
Motion by Van Nostrand, seconded by Ca- rington and carried tl!at bills
be paid.

MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
A special election. in the City of Clermont, Lake
County, Florida will be held in the City Hall in said city
on the second Tuesday in November, 1951, the same being
November 12, 1957 between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M.
and the official sunset.
The purpose of this election shall be to determine
the following question:
Shall the City of Clermont adopt a City
Manager form of government and employ..
a City Manager?
All persons properly registered in the Municipal

R'l_A~ Book in the City of Clermont shall be eligible to vote
on this question.

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION
OF VOTERS
NOTICE is hereby given that the Registration
Books for ~he City of Clermont will be open from October
18 to 0ctober 31, inclusive, at the Clerk's office in the
City Hall, for the registration of voters who wish to
participate in the special election of the City of Clermont
to be held Tuesday, November 12, 1957 and such books shall
remain open to and including 5 P.M. October 31, 1957 during
the reasonalbe business hours of each business day.
It is not necessary for persons who are already
registered to again register.
