SPECIAL MEETING

A,special meeting of the City Council of the City
of Clermont was held at the office of the City Clerk
on Tuesday, April 7, 1959. The meeting was called to
order by Council President, Charles Roe, at 11:OO A.M.
with the following Council members present: Oswalt,
Middleton, Boyd and Roe. Other officials present were:
Mayor Hullinger, City Attorney Morse and Clerk Johnson.
Mr. Bennett of Houston Gas Corporation was also present.
Mr. Bennett outlined the proposed gas expansion program
contemplated by his firm and discussed the possibility
of obtaining a standard franchise from the City of Clermont.
Mr. Bennett was informed that the City of Clermont, with
other cities, was in the process of forming a gas district
and until the outcome of such endeavor was determined,
would not be interested in executing a franchise.
Mr. Bennett thanked the Council for their time and
courtesy and advised them that he would be happy to call
on them again should they decide that it. was necessary.

Motion was made by Mr. Middleton, seconded by
Mr. Oswalt and carried, that Clerk Johnson be
requested to advertise in the local paper an
invitation for bids on the residence located on
Lot 19 in Block 80; it being understood that it is
only the house proper and not the real estate which
is being offered for sale. All bids to be accompanied
by a check of 10% of the bid price and sale of the
residence to be contingent upon the house being removed
from the premises within 60 days from date of sale.
All bids to be filed in the Office of the City Clerk
not later than May 5, 1959.
Motion by Mr. Middleton, seconded by Mr. Boyd, and
carried, that bills be paid.
Motion by Mr. Middleton, seconded by Mr. Oswalt, and
carried, that an assessment of $6.75 per lineal assessable
foot ($2.25 per foot for each individual property owner)
be made for the paving of parts of the sollowing streets:
Prince Edward, Disston, Drew, Minneola and DeSoto, and
that the City Attorney prepare the necessary RESOLUTION
or ORDINANCE levying liens against the individual properties
for the amount above stated.
Clerk Johnson was requested to write to Mr. Jack Simpson,
Chairman of the County Commissioners and extend to Mr.
Simpson the sincere thanks of the City Council for the
splendid cooperation of the County Commissioners in the
past and to assure Mr. Simpson that it was the intention
of the City Council to cooperate with the Board of County
Commissioners, and most particularly with its new member,
Mr. Bishop, in the future.
Motion by Mr. Boyd, seconded by Mr. Middleton, and carried,
that meeting adjourn.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY FOR LOCAL OR SPECIAL LEG-
ISLATION AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT.

NOTICE is hereby given that application will be
made to the Legislature of the state of Florida, for
the passage of two special or local laws providing, in
effe~t, for the amendment of the Charter of the City of
. Clermont, to provide:
1. For the annual appointment of a Treasurer
for the ,City of Clermont, by the City Counci17 instead
of the Treasurer being elected annually, beginning
January I, 1960.
2. For the appointment, by the City Council, of
a second Municipal Judge, in the event of the absence~
sickness, disqualification or for any other reason, the
duly appointed Municipal Judge shall be unable to serve
and to take effect immediately.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:'
The City Council of the City of Clermont will, at
its Adjourned Regular Meeting to be held on April 21,
1959 at 7 :_30 fi.1-I. in the City Administration Building,
accept sealed Bids for the purchase of the following
described property owned by the City of C1ermontt
Block 100 and Fractional Lots 13 and
14 in Block 99, lying South of the
Right-of-way of state Road 50, accord-
ing to the Official Map of the City of
Clermont, filed 2/4/26 and recorded in
Plat Book 8, pages 17-23 incl., public
records of Lake County, Florida
Each Bid must be accompanied by a check for ten
(10%) per cent of the Bid.
The City of Clermont will furnish Abstract of Title
and will convey by Special 'Warranty Deed, free and clear
of all taxes for 19p9, said property and title as evidenced
by said Abstract.
The City Council reserves the right to reject any and
all Bids.
