A regularly adjourned meeting of the city Council of the
City of Clermont was held at the city hall on Tuesday,
July 16, 1957o
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with the
following members present: Roe, Van Nostrand and Bishop.
Mr. Turville was present as acting Mayor in the Absence
of Mayor O. H. Keene. Mr. Charles Roe, vicechairman,
called the meeting to order and presided.
Others present were Supt. Sheldon, Fireman ~ull~mod,
H. H. f'lcc;:~u i st ion and fIlr. Spillers.
The minutes of the meeting held on July 2, 1957, were read
and approved.
Mr. McQuistion informed the Council that he had called a
meeting of the Zoning Commission to consider the request
of ~villiam Boyd, but t~at a quorum had not attended and
therefore the matter could not be considered. He further
informed the Counc il that it would be dur ing the month
of September before he would be able to take any action
on the matter due to members of the Commission being out
of the cityo
Mr. Spiller discussed a proposed subdivision and the paving
of streets in said subdivision wity the council.
A discussion took place ragarding the paving of i.'" isston avennue
from fl1nnehaha Avenue to Lake shore drive and Palm Lane from /./
Anderson street to ~isston avenue.
Motion was made by Van Nostrand, seconded by Bishop and
carried that the city Clerk advertise for bids for the
paving of Disston Avenue from Minnehaha Avenue to Lake
Shore drive and Palm lane from Anderson Street to Disston ./
Avenue. All bids received will be publicly read at the
regular meeting of the Council on August 6, 1957.

following these minutes.
Mr. Oakley Seaver, chairman of the Local Goverment research
Committee, appeared before the council and requested a letter
from the Council specifically desiginating just what was
expected of his Co~mittee with regards consideratio~ and
recommendations. I"ir. Seaver was informed that such a letter
would be prepared.
The proposed water ordinance was discussed.
Supt. Sheldon was authorized to prepare a two inch water
meter with the nece ssary attachen:ent s whereby it could be used
for the metering of water to other than rer.ular water customers.
It was decided that a connection fee of three dollal"'s would
be made for this service and water sold at regular rates.

Supt. Sheldon reported that the dog pound was completed.
Motion by Bishop, seconded by Van Nostrand and carried that
all impounded dogs remain impounded until two days after
a notice of their being im;ounded had appeared in the local
press, after which time they will be destroyed. If, and when,
the dogs are claimed the owner must pay to the city ~1.00
per day for the time that the dog has been impo~nded plus
advertising cost.
Motion was made by Van Nostrand, seconded by Bishop and
carried that patrolman Blackford be employed on a regular
basis as he ha~ now completed his probation period.

that Mr. Frank Loesch be appointed to member.ship o~ the
local Loning Board of Adjustment to serve the unexpired

te~ of Mr. William Sexton.

Motion by Bishop, seconded by Van Nostrand and carried that
city clerk issue a check in the amount of five hundred
dollro"'s to Cooper Memorial library which is the remainder
of the amount budgeted for operations and repairs, and that
the clerk determine the manner in which Cooper Hemorial
Library demires the city to make payment for the five
hundred dollars budgeted as a payment on the mortgage
against Cooper Memorial library.
Motion by Bishop, seconded by Van Nostrand and carried that
city clerk issue a check to the Board of County Commissioners
in the amount of ~1,080.00 for mosquito control for the
year 1957.
Motion by Van Nostrand, seconded by Bishop that meeting adjourn.

INVITATION TO BID
Sealed bids will be received by the City of Clermont, Florida,
at the office of the City Clerk, Clermont, Florida, until
7:30 p.m. E.S. T., Aug. 6, 1957 , at which time they will
be opened and publicly re~4 forth~ construction of street
pavement at Clermont, Florida.
The principal items of work consist of the construction of
approximately 4,600 square yards of clay stabilized subgrade;
3,500 square yards of sand clay base; 3,150 lineal feet of '
curb and gutter; 3,500 square yards of asphaltic concrete
surface; curb inlets and drain pipe; and all appurtenant work~
. '.
Plans and specifications will be op~n to public inspection at,
and m~ be obtained from, the office of the City Clerk, Clermont,
Floridae Requests for plans must be accompanied by check payable
to the City of Clermont in the amount of $5.00, which covers cost
of handling and mailing and is not returnable.

Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an
amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid.
No bid mqy be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after
the scheduled date and time for the receipt of bids.
The Owner reserves the, right to reject any or all bids and to
waive informalities.
