09-03-1963 Regular Meeting e e< MINUTES N~ 63 REGULAR MEETING A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday, September 3, 1963. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Council Chairman Clarence Bishop with all Council members present. Other City Officials present were: Mayor Joseph Bon Jorn, City Attorney Morse, Superintendent Sheldon, Police Chief Tyndal, Deputy Clerk DolDres Carroll and Clerk Johnson. Others present were Frederick Nyhius; Mr. Reed, a representa- tive of American Lafrance Company and representatives of the Orlando Sentinel.. and the local press. The minutes of the Adjourned Meeting held August 20,1963 and the Special ]~eeting held August 27, 1963 were approved as written. Mr. Reed made application for a license for the sale of beer at 428 Highway "50". Mr. Reed was advised that the Chief of Police would investigate his proposed location and that if there were no churches or schools located within five hundred feet that the license would be granted. Chief Tyndal submitted his monthly report which was accepted and ordered filed. Chief Tyndal also submitted copies of proposed require- ments for employing future police and requested permission to attend a Seminar at Florida State University on November Seventh and Eighth. Motion was made by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman Hutchingson and carried, that Chief Tyndal.be granted permission to attend the Seminar as requested. Chief ~Jndal was advised that his proposed requirements for future ~olice Department candidates would have full consideration. Clerk Johnson opened bids on a fire siren which were as follows: Miami Fire Equipment Company, $796.00 and American LaFrance Company, $765.60. Motion was made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Turville and carried, that the low bid of $765.60 be accepted and that the City Clerk issue a purchase order to American Lafrance. Motion was made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Turville and carried, that the City Clerk advise the Gamewell Company that the City of Clermont can not use the air horn alarm equipment, shipped by them, and that the equipment is being held subject to in- structions from them as to its disposal. Clerk Johnson read a letter from John Richardson wherein application was made for a renewal of the lease on the Jaycee Beach Restaurant. Motion 1~as made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Hoskinson, and carried, that the lease on the Jaycee Beach Restaurant be renewed to John Richardson for one year, beginning October 1, 1963. Clerk Johnson was requested to advise the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company that the City of Clermont was not interested in purchasing any of the property which they are offering for sale. e. .
