10-01-1963 Regular Meeting .. . MINUTES N~ 10 REGULAR MEETING A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday, October 1, 1963. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Council Chairman Clarence Bishop with all Council members present. Other city officials present vTere: Mayor BonJorn, Police Chief Tyndal, Building Inspector Snyder, Superintendent Sheldon, Deputy Clerk Carroll and Clerk Johnson. v~tors present were: Messrs. Minnick, Nyhius, Abrahams and representa- tives of the Orlando Sentinel and the local press. The minutes of the Adjourned Meeting held September 17, 1963 and the Special Meeting held September 20, 1963 were approved as written. Mr. Minnick requested that the Council give consideration to the amount of the occupational license paid by him to the City. Mr. Minnick stated that the amount which he paid was considerably more than that paid by practically any other business within the city. Mr. Minnicn was assured that his request would have every consideration. Police Chief Tyndal submitted his monthly report which was accepted and ordered filed. Building Inspector Snyder submitted his monthly report which was accepted and ordered filed Clerk Johnson opened bids on water valves and motion was made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Hoskinson and carried, that the order be placed with Hughes Supply Company of Orlando for Hammond valves. Clerk Johnson requested that the opening of bids on the painting of the Community Building be postponed until the next meeting of the Council, due to the fact that one bid had been misplaced. Mr. Johnson's request was granted. Clerk Johnson advised the Council that Cooper Memorial Library was asking ~90.00 for the used gas meter which they were offering for sale. Motion was made by Councilman York, seconded by Councilman Hoskinson and carried, that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to purchase the gas meter at a cost of $90.00. Motion vTas made by Councilman Hoskinson, seconded by Councilman York and carried, that Clerk Johnson be authorized to have the gas meter, purchased from Cooper Memorial Library, installed in the Community Building at a cost not to exceed $50.00. Clerk Johnson read a letter from H. H. Block and Associates, of Gainesville, pertaining to examinGtions given by them pertaining to the building trades. Clerk Johnson was asked to write to Mr. Block and request additional information regarding the matter. Councilman Hutchingson offered a RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Clerk to execute and deliver to the State Road Depart- ment a Utilities Agreement regarding State Road 25 (Section 11200-6503- (2503) and moved its adoption. The RESOLUTION was read by the Clerk and Councilman Hoskinson seconded its adoption. When the vote was taken on the adoption of the RESOLUTION the result was: YEAS: Turville; Hutchingson, Hoskinson, York and Bishop. YEAS: 5. NAYES: None. So, the RESOLUTION was adopted and Number 20 assigned to it and ordered placed in the Resolution Book, page 30, and ordered posted. e . MINUTES N~ 11 Motion was made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Turville and carried, that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to order one 1963 Model Fhrd'"frbm Westerman Ford, at a cost of $2095.00, with the understanding that the amount is to be included in the 1963-64 Budget. Motion by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman Hutchingshon, and carried, that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to order General Electric Radio equipment for the car being purchased for the Police Department, with the understanding that necessary funds to pay for same are to be included in the 1963-64 Budget. Motion by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman York, and carried, tha.t the Purchasing Agent be authorized to purchase one 1963 Model Chevrolet Pickup truck from Stalnaker Chevrolet Company at a price of $1600.00, less trade-in. Clerk Johnson advised the Council that Mr. Stiggins would like to meet with them Tuesday evening, October 8, 1963. The Council members were in agreement to meet with Mr. Stiggins. Motion by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman York, and carried, that bills be paid, including a bill in the amount of $50.60 to the Crest Restaurant. The,Council was in agreement;however, that future items of this nature should be authorized by them prior to the expenditure. Motion was made by Councilman Hutchingson, seconded by Councilman Turville, and carried, that all sources of water discharge, from the water supply system be metered; that where such water discharge is to a customer that the cost of the meter installation must be paid by the customer, or the owner of the property, and that free water to any institution,. other than City owned and/or operated be discontinued.
