A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held in the office of the City Clerk on Wednesday, December 11, 1963.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Council Chairman
Clarence Bishop with all members present with the exception of Mr.
Hutbhingson. City Clerk Albert Johnson was also present.
Chairman Bishop stated that the purpose of the meeting was to
canvas the ballots of the General Election held December 10, 1963; to
authorize payment to the Election Board for their services and to
appoint an Election Board for the run-off election being held on
December 19, 1963.
After checking the absentee ballots and the Certificate of Result
by the Election Board as to the count registered by the voting machine,
motion was made by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman Hoskinson
and unanimously carried that it is RESOLVED that the Certificate of
Result of the General Election of the City of Clermont held on Tuesday,
December 10, 1963 be accepted and that a copy of the result be received
into these minutes and made a part thereof and be it FURTHER RESOLVED
in accordance with the result of the General Election.
That Joseph BonJorn be, and is hereby declared, elected to the
office of Mayor of the City of Clermont for a two year term commencing
on the first Tuesday in January 19~.
That John York be, and is hereby declared, elected to the office
of Councilman, in Group Four, of the City of Clermont for a two year
term commencing on the first Tuesday in January, 1964.
That as none of the candidates for Councilman in Group Two received
a majority of the votes cast it is necessary that the two candidates
receiving the greater number of votes, namely Clarence Bishop and
Charles Pool, Jr., enter the run-off election of the City of Clermont
being held on December 19, 1963, and that the candidate receiving the
greater number of votes in said run-off election shall be declared
elected to the office of Councilman for Group Two, City of Clermont,
Lake County, Florida.
Be it FURTHER RESOLVED and declared that upon qualification of
said officer.selected, and to be elected, as aforesaid, that they shall
assume the duties of such office to which they are elected and hold the
same and perform the duties prescribed by law.
Motion was made by Councilman Hoskinson, seconded by Councilman
Turville and carried, that each member of the Election Board be paid
Thirteen Dollars for their services during the General Election held
on December 10, 196;.
Motion was made by Councilman Turville, seconded by Councilman
Hoskinson and carried, that the City Clerk be authorized to appoint
the following named persons as Clerk and Inspectors for the run-off
election of the City of Clermont being held on December 19, 1963:
Clerk: Dru R,ambo. Inspectors: Col. Joseph House, John McCown, Ruby
House and G. Y. Middleton. In the event that any of the persons appointed
cannot serve the Clerk was authorized to make substitute appointments.
Clerk Johnson advised the Council that Mr. Rogers had submitted
a Certificate of Approval form, pertaining to the nursing home located
in a part of Lake Highlands Hotel, to be executed by City Officials.

The Council members were in agreement that no action could be taken until
they had received reports from the Building Inspector and the Fire Chief.
Motion by Councilman Hoskinson, seconded by Councilman York, and
carried, that meeting adjourn.
