SPECIAL MEETING
A special meeting of the City Council of the ~ity of Clermont was
held in the office of the Ci~y Clerk on Thursd~, January 9~ 1964.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. ,by Mayor ,BonJorn with
Councilmen Hutchingson, Hoskinson and Pool present. Others present
were Hill Stiggins, Architect for the City, Superintendent Sheldon and
Clerk Johnson. '
Mayor BonJorn stated that he had called the meeting for the purpose
of discussing building plans of the proposed,Police Station and Fire
Department building with Mr. stiggins and any other matters of business
which might come before the meeting.
Motion ~as made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson and
carried, that the rule of written'notice for special meeting be waived
. and that the Council sit in official session.
Council members and the M~or discussed building plans with Mr.
Stiggins and various changes were made in order to reduce the cost.
Mr. Turville'arrived during the discussion.
The bid opening date, previou$ly set for January 14, 1964 and sub-
sequently postponed indefinitely was set for January 28, 1964.
The matter of engaging a City Attorney w~s discussed and it was
decided to postpone this action for the present. As all three of the
local attorneys had kindly offered to assist the Council in legal affairs
when, and if, their services were needed it was the consensus to use
them as needed. The retaining fee of $100.00 monthly paid to Mr. Irvi:ng
Morse was ordered cancelled.,
Motion was made by Mr. Hoskinson, seconded by Mr. Turville, and
carried, that the City agree to pay one half 'of the expense (not to
exceed Two Hundred Dollars) of dredging the channel between Lake Winona
and Lake M:Lnnehaha, with the stipulation that written permission from
Mr. Kenneth Smith and Mr. Geo. W. Harrison be onfil,ewith the, CitN '
Clerk prior to starting the work. As Howard Young had volunteered to
obtain permission from interested parties and arrange for the actual'
work the matter was referred to him.
Clerk Johnson was requested to call the State Road Department and
request a c~opy of the plans of the overpass at Highways 50 and 27 if
the final plans have been completed.
Motion by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and carried,
