A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont
was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday, April 14, 1964.
The meeting was held for the purpose of opening and considering bids
for the construction of a Police and Fire Building.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Joseph
BonJorn with the following named Councilmen present: Hutchingson,
~urville and ~ork. Uther Cit~ Officials present were Building Inspector
Snyder, Fire vhief Sheldon, Vity Attorney Caldwell, Clerk Johnson
and Mr. Hill Stiggins, Architect for the City of Clermont. Others
present were interested bidders, sub bidders, material suppliers
and representatives of the press.
'Upon the request of Mayor BonJorn Mr. Stiggins opened1 inspected
and read the bids which were as follows: Hodes & Cummings vonstruction
Company, $7';970.00; Howard & Spencer, Contractors, $79,952.00;
Matsche & Spears, bid rejected as bid bond was not signed; Plietchwait
Construction Company, Inc.,$7~,379.00; Zimmerman Construction Co.$77,300.0~
Councilmen Hoskinson and Pool arrived at this time.
After making further inspection of the bids Mr. Stiggins reported
that all bids appeared to be in order with the exception of the one
submitted by Matsche & Spears, that in his opinion the contractors
submitting bids were competent and that it was his recommendation that
the contract be awarded to the low bidder, Hodes & Cummings Construction
Oompany at their bid price of $73,970.00
City Attorney Caldwell was requested to examine all bids and
make a report to the Council prior to Tuesday evening, April 21, 1964
at which time the bids will have further consideration.
Motion by York, seconded by Turville and carried that meeting
adjourn.
