ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday, August 18, 1964. The
meeting was called to order by Mayor Bonjorn at 7:30 P. M. with all
Councilmen present with the exception of Mr. John York. Other City
Officials present were Superintendent Sheldon, Assistant Superintendent
Creech, Police Chief Tynda1, Building Inspector Snyder and City Clerk
Johnson. Visitors present were Mr. Stuart, Mr. Widmer, Mr. Nyhius, Mr.
Beals and a representative of the Orlando Sentinel.

Mr. Widmer advised the Council that a gas installation being made by
his firm was being "held up" by the City Inspector due to the fact that
they were using galvanized pipe. Mr. Widmer contended that the gas code
adopted by the City of Clermont allowed the use of galvanized pipe.
Mayor BonJorn. referred the matter to the Building Committee with authority
to render a final decision and appointed Mr. Harold Turville to serve on
the Committee in the absence of Mr. John York. Mr. Hoskinson, Chairman
of the Building Committee, advised Mr. Widmer that they would meet and
give him an answer Wednesday morning, August 19, 1964.
Mr. Turville, Chairman of the Streets Committee, reported that the
City had accepted the low bid of .44i per square yard for the surfacing
of Lake Shore Drive and that work would start at once.
Mr. Pool, Chairman of the Parks and Cemetery Committee, reported that
the Jaycee Beach would be cleaned prior to Labor Day and that it was
hoped that ad.ditional picnic tables could be placed there soon.
Motion was made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Pool, and carried,
that Mr. Hill Stiggins be paid $769.91 for architectural services.
Motion was. made by Mr. Hoskinson, seconded by Mr. Turvi11e, and carried,
that construction of a side walk, six feet in width, at the new City
building be authorized.
Clerk Johnson was requested to contact Dr. James A. Stokes of Orlando
in an effort to determine the physical condition of Aaron Jones, a City
employee.
Motion was made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Turvi11e and carried,
that the meeting adjourn to a continuation of the Board of Equalization
meeting which was adjourned Tuesday, August 11, 1964.
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Mayor BonJorn called the meeting to order.
A short discussion took place relative to the proposed tax roll for
the year 1964 and it was decided that the meeting should be adjourned until
Tuesday, August 25, 1964 in order that all members of the Council could be
present.
