ADgOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeti~g of the City Council of the City of Clermont
was held in the Municipal Court Room on Tuesday, November 17, 1964. The
meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Joseph BonJorn with
all Council members present excepting Mr. Hutchingson. Other City
offic~als present were: Building In~pector Snydei, Police Chief Tyndal,
Superlntendent Sheldon, Assistant Superintendent Creech, City Attorney
Caldwell, Deputy Clerk Carroll and Clerk Johnson. Visitors present were
~tr. Wood, of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company; Messrs. Westbrook and
Groo, representi~g Michaels E~gineering Company; Messrs. W. H. McQuisition,
Charles Beals, James Carroll, Frederick Nyhius, Paul Tabor, and a repre-
sentative of the Orland Sentinel.
Invocation was, given by Mr.-Paul Tabor.
Mr. McQuisition spoke to the Council regarding a request that the
piano in the Community Building be tuned. ~tr. McQuisiton was requested
to investigate the matter and report to the Council with recommendations
at the next r~gular Council meeting.
Mr. Wood, representing Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, spoke to
the Council regarding Employee Group Insurance and explained his plan in
considerable detail~ Tee Mayor advised Mr. Wood that the Council would
give his plan full consideration and that the Clerk would contact him
at a later date.
Messrs. Westbrook and Groo reported to the Council regarding the
engineering work they have been doing on a proposed sewerage sy~tem. They
gave cost estimates but stated that:' 'tHeir work was not completed and that
it was hoped that the estimated costs cou-ld be reduced.
Chief Tyndal submitted his monthly report which was accepted and
ordered filed.
Mayor BonJorn inquired of Chief Tyndal as to his progress in checking
City occupational licenses. Chief Tyndal advised that the work was undei-
way but had not been completed. Chief Tyndal was directed to complete
the work as soon as possible and to see that the Occupational License Code
is enforced.
Building Inspector Snyder submitted his monthly report which was
accepted and ordered filed.
Mr. Turville of the Streets and Sidewalks Committee reported street
center lines had been painted as ordered and that it was his recommendation
that a "stop" sign be the permanent sign on Anderson Street at its inter-
section with Lake Shore Drive. '

Mr. Hoskinson of the Fire and Building Committee recommended and
moved that the sprinkling system at the police and Fire Department
Building be changed to eliminate the sprinkling of the buildi~g walls an~
that the City ciews construct and erect a twelve to fifteen foot flag
pole in the raised area South of the building entrance and that the
purchase of "Volunteer Fireman" car plates be authorized for a~l Volunteer
Firemen at a cost not to exceed $50.00 for the plates. The motlon was
seconded by Mr. Pool, and carried.
City Attorney Caldwell was requested to report on the status of the
Seaboard Air Line right-of-way between Second and Seventh Streets which
the City is consideiing purchasing.
Plans for dedication of the police and Fire Station were discussed
but no action taken.

Mr. Pool of the Parks, Cemetery and Recreation Committee reported on
park improvement progress and recommended, and moved, that a IIdead endll
sign be installed at Crystal Lake Drive and Second Street. The motion was
seconded by l~. Hoskinson and carried. Mr. Pool further reported that
lights would be reinstalled on the South Side of Center Lake in the near
future and that it was his intention to have a lighted Christmas tree on
the Island ~gain this year. '
Mr. York of the Street Lighting and Sanitation Committee recommended
and moved that street lights be installed at the following named locations:
Anderson Street, between Almond and Highway 115011; Knapp and Minneh(il.ha
Avenue; three lights on East Montrose' between Bloxam Avenue and Highway
1127"; Chestnut Street between 4th and 5th Streets and Almond and that the
existin,g.,. lights at the followi~g locations be changed to modern lighting;
Chest/~~~ 5th Streets, Seminole and 5th Streets, East Montrose Street and
Bloxam Avenue. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hoskinson and carried.
Motion was made by Mr. Hoskinson, seconded by Mr. Turville, and
carried, that City crews construct a side walk, four feet in width, along
the entire South side and adjacent to the parking lot at the Police
Station and that the area between the West end of the parking lot and the
present North-South sidewalk also be constructed as a sidewalk.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from the Lake County Board of Public
Instruction wherein they agreed to pay their share of street paving costs,
in the Lincoln Park School area, not to exceed $3,000.00. Clerk Johnson
read a letter from Mr. M. J. Barnes complaining that Konsler Steel Company
trucks were breaking the street curbing in front of his property and
damaging his sprinkler system. Mr. Turville volunteered to see both
Mr.' Konsler and Mr. Banres about the matter and try to, get their difficulties
settled.
Clerk Johnson requested that Thursday, December 17, 1964 be officially
designated as election day for the run off of theGBreral Election being
held on, December 8th, provided that a, run off is necessary. Motion was
made by ~tr. Turville, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and carried, that Thursday,
December 17, 1964 be officially designated as election day for the General
Election run off;. '
Motion was made by Mr.. Turville, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and carried,
that the following named persons be appointed to serve during the General
Election of the City of Clermont, being held on December 8th, 1964, and
that the run off election be held, if' necessary, on December 17, 1964.
Clerk: G. Y. Middleton
Inspectors: 'Donald Hayes, John McCown, Cash Hammond, Doris Bishop
and Robert Ingersoll.
The.',form of ballot was discussed and approved.
Motion \'las made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. Pool, and carried,
that the Clerk be authorized to disburse funds to the Chamber of Commerce,
Cooper ~~morial Library and the Junior Women's Club as provided in the
1964-65 budget.
Motion was made by Mr. Pool, seconded by Mr. Turville, and carried
that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute and deliver to
South Lake Memorial Hospital, ,a deed for the old City Hall property unpon
receipt of the unpaid balance.

Clerk Johnson reported that Mr. Hill Stiggins, Architect for the
City of Clermont had advised that in his opinion the Police and Fire
Station were now completed and that the General Contractor has fulfilled
his contrac't and that he would like for City officials to make a final
inspection as soon as convenient. The Council members were in agreement
that they would like to wait for a week or ten days before final agceptance.
Motion was made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. York, that the
General Election of the City of Clermont on December 8, 1964 be held in
the Fire Station instead of the Court Room. The motion carried with
Mr. Hoskinson voting Nay.
Mr. Hoskinson was appointed to membership on the newly formed
Association of South Lake County Municipalities. Several other persons
were suggested but it was decided to await Mr. Hoskinson's recommendation
at a later date.
Motion by Mr. Turville, seconded by Pool, and carried, that the
meeting adjourn until Monday, November 23, 1964, at 5:00 P. M. in the
office of the City Clerk.
