12-07-1964 Special Meeting . e MINUTES N? 195 SPECIAL MEETING A Special Meeting of the City Council o~. the City of Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Monday, December 7, 1964. The meeting was called to order by Mayor BonJorn at 5:00 P. M. with all Council members present. The ballot box was inspected and prepared for the General Election of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida to be held on Tuesday, December 8, 1964; the ballot box was locked and the keys and ballot box turned over to Police Chief Tyndal for delivery to A. B. Broyles, Officer of Election. Motion was made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by r1r. York and unanimoulsy carried that the new Police and Fire Departments building at the Corner of West Avenue and DeSoto Street be accepted and that the City Clerk and/or Finance Officer be authorized to pay to the contractors and the architect the remaining amount due them. Motion was made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. Hutchingson, and carr~ed, that the meeti~g adjourn until Wednesday, December 9, 1964 at 9:00 o'clock A. M. for the purpose of canvassing the ballot of the General Election of the City of Clermont being held on December 8, 1964. . : . . MINUTES 196 After checking the absentee ballots and the Certific te of Result by the Election Board as to the' count registered by the oting machines, motion ,,,as made by Mr. Ttirville, seconded by Mr. Hoski son, and carried, that it be RESOLVED that the Certificate of Result of he General Election of the City of Clermont held December 8, 1964 be acce ted and that a copy of the results be received into these minutes and m~ea part thereof and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED in accordance with the rlsults of the 'election that on the question II Shall the City Council of th 1/ City of Clermont have the authority to hire a City Managerll a majority f the votes cast were IIFORII and the question, therefore, carried and t,at as none of the candidates for Council to Groups One, Three and Five received a majority of the votes cast it is necessary that the two candidates receiving the greater number of votes in each group; namely Charles Beals and Norris , (Hutch) Hutchingson for Group One; Harold Tu ille and J. (Jay) VanderMeer for Group Three, and James Freeman and Jame (Jim) Hoskinson for Group Five, .enter the run-off election being hel December 17, 1964 and that the candidate receiving the greater numbe of votes in each individual group shall be declared elected to the 0 ice of Councilman of the Group in which they are entered, City of Cle nt, Lake County, Florida. Be it FURTHER RESOLVED and detCI'ar upon qualification of said officers elected, and to be elec~) s aforesaid, that they shall assume ,the duties of such office to hich they are elected and hold- the same and perform the duties pre~ ed by law. Motion was made by Mr. Hutchi gson, seconded by Mr. York, and carried, that each member of the Election oard and the Officer of Election be paid Thirteen Dollars for th~services during the General Election held December 8, 1960. Motion by Mr. Hoskf:nson, econded by Mr. Hutchingson, and carried, that the Clerk be authorize to appoint the following named persons as:' Clerk and Inspectors .'f' -=-the run-off election of the City of Clermont being held on Thursday, D ember 17, 1964.
