ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held in the office of the City Clerk on Wednesday, December 9, 1964. The meet~
ing was called to order at 9:00 A. M. by Mayor BonJorn with all Council
members present. Clerk Johnson was also present.
Mayor BonJorn stated that the purpose of the meeting was to canvas the
ballot of the General Election of the City of Clermont held December 8, 1964;
to authorize payment to the Election Board members and the Officer pf
Election for their services and to appoint an Election Board for the General
run-off Election being held on December 17th, 1964.
After checking the absentee ballots and the Certificate of Result by
the Election Board as to the count registered by the voting machines, motion
was made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and carried, that it be
RESOLVED ,that the Certificate of Result of the General Election of the City
of Clermont held December 8, 1964 be accepted and that a copy of the results
be received into these minutes and made a part thereof and BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED in accordance with the results of the election that on the question
"Shall the City Council of the City of Clermont have the authority to hire
a City Manager" a majority of the votes cast were "FOR" and the question,
therefore, carried and that as none of the candidates for Council to Groups
One, Three and Five received a majority of the votes cast it is necessary
that the two candidates receiving the greater number of votes in each group;
namely, Charles Beals and Norris (Hutch) Hutchingson for Group One; Harold
Turville and J (Jay) VanderMeer for Group Three, and James Freeman and
James ,(Jim) Hoskinson for Group Five, enter the run-off election being held
December 17, 1964 and that the candidate receiving the greater number of
votes in each individual group shall be declared elected to the office of
Councilman of the Group in which they are entered, City of Clermont, Lake
County, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED and declared that upon qualification of said
officers elected, and to be elected, as aforesaid, that they shall assume
the duties of such office to which they are elected and hold the same and
perform the duties prescribed by law.
Motion ~{as made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. York, and carried,
that each member of the Election Board and the Officer of Election be paid
Thirteen Dollars for their services during the General Election held
December 8, 1960.
Motion by Mr. Hoskinson, seconded by Mr. Hutchingson, and carried, that
the Clerk be authorized to appoint the following named persons as C,lerk
and Inspectors for the run-off election of the City of Clermont being held
on Thursday, December 17, 1964. Clerk: G. Y. Middleton; Inspectors John
McCown, Dorris Bishop, Robert Ingersoll, Don Hayes and D. G. Rambo and A. B.
Broyles, Officer of Election.
