An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held in the Municipal Court Room on Tuesday, December 16, 1964.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor BonJorn at 7:30 P. M. with
all Councilmen. present. Other City officials present were:- Police Chief
Tyndal, Building Inspector Snyder, Superintendent Sheldon, Deputy Clerk
C~rroll and Clerk Johnso~. Others present were Mr. Baul-Tabor and a representa-
t1ve of the Orlando Sent1nel. City Attorney Caldwell was also present.
The invocation was, given by Mr. Paul Tabor.
The minutes of the meeti!lgs held December 1st, 7th and 9th, 1964 were
approved as written.
Superintendent Sheldon reported that the new well was down to a depth
of six hundred and one feet and that pumping would start soon.
Mr. Hoskinson stated that he had received numerous compliments on the
appearance of Center Lake Park and that he wished to commend and thank Mr.
Pool for his fine work.
Mr. Pool reported that the weeds in the lake edge at Peter Pool Park
were again in need of cutting and that the cost would be approximately
$20.00. No action was taken.
Mr. Hoskinson stated that the South Lake Growth and Business Committee
had now been officially organized and that some progress was being made. Mr.
Hoskinson further reported that a general meeting would be held January 8,
1965 and that the, general public was invited. .
Mr. Hutchingson inquired of Clerk Johnson if final payment had been made
on the Police and Fire Departments building and was advised in the affirma-
tive.
City Attorney Caldwell reported that the lease had been prepared for
the ceme1:ery property for the masoleum.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from the East Central Florida Regional
Planning Council advising th~~hey expected to have some cost estimates on
Community Planning for Clenn/ 1n the near future.
Clerk Johnson read the following resolution from the Clermont Planning
Commission:
Mr. Colegrove moved that it be Resolved that the City Council and
Mayor make further study of a desirable location for a Community Building,
giving full consideration to the offer made by Mr. Winther for free land,
. and that if at all feasible proceed with the financing and construction as
soon as possible. That the services of a professional Municipal Planner be
procured as soon as possible ahd that followi!lg the study the feasibility
of a sewer system have full consideration. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Seaver and carried.
Clerk Johnson advised the Council that such matters as a review of
employee hospitalization insurance, requesting bids on petroleum products,
a report on the, sewer system and engaging Hunnicutt and Associates to
reapprai~e real and personal property in the City were pending. It was
decided by the Council to table these several matters until after the first
of the year.

Mr. Pool suggested that the "Islands" in the center of Lake Avenue
between Montrose and DeSoto Streets be removed. The matter was referred to
Mr. Turville for investigation and recommendation.
Mr. Pool also recommended that the city proceed with the paving of the
streets in the Lincoln Park School area as previously planned. .
Motion was made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. York, and carried, that
work orders be issued by the City Clerk for the construction of the following
named streets: Bloxam Avenue from Highlands Avenue to DeSoto Street and .
DeSoto Street from Bloxam Avenue to Scott Street. Clerk Johnson was requested
to secure bids on lime rock and hauling and to report to the City Council.
Clerk Johnson was also requested to contact Mr. Fred Atkinson with regards
to some possible paving for the Lake County School Board.
Mr. Hoskinson reported that he had received several complaints regarding
local voting procedure and especially regarding the registration rolls. Clerk
Johnson advised Mr. Hoskinson that there had been a few errors made (not over
six or seven) in preparing the new rolls but that in his opinion the job was
one well done rather than one to be criticized. Mr. Hoskinson stated that he
~f the same opinion.
Motion was made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and
carried, that the Clerk of Election be requested to-'phone or radio the City
Clerk and determine if any error actually existed when any person claimed
to be registered and their name did not appear on the rolls. City Attorney
Ca.ldwell stated that a written statement from the Clerk '\'lould not be
necessary under such circumstances.
Motion was made by Mr. Hutchingson, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson, and
carried, that the meeting adjourn Until Wednesday, December 11, 1964 at
5.00 P. M. in the office of the City Clerk.
