Whereas, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was founded on January 24, 1938, in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Marion Stubbs Thomas and twenty dedicated mothers to
provide social, cultural, and educational opportunities for African American youth; and
Whereas, the organization has grown into the largest African American family
organization in the United States, with 271 chapters across seven regions and more than
50,000 family members nationwide; and
Whereas, the Orlando Chapter, chartered in 1956 by Adrienne Harrison, has served
Central Florida for seventy years by developing young leaders and advancing service,
education, and community engagement; and
Whereas, the Orlando Chapter delivers impactful programming in cultural awareness,
educational development,health advocacy,civic engagement, and social enrichment,while
supporting national efforts through the Foundation established in 1968; and
Whereas, the Orlando Chapter will celebrate its 70th Anniversary on April 10, 2026,
at the "Harlem Nights: Club Renaissance Edition" Gala, marking decades of leadership,
service, and commitment to the families of Orange County and beyond; and
WOW, Therefore, I,Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida,
do hereby proclaim the 1 Oth of April, Two Thousand and Twenty-Six as:
Jack andJid of.America, Orlando Chapter Day
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Clermont to be affixed this IOth Day of April in the year Two Thousand and
Twenty-Six.
