An adjourne~ meeti!lg .of the 'Ci,ty Council of the 'Ci:ty, of Clermont was held l.fi the Councl.l Chambers on Tuesday , ;\~gust'17,. ,1965. The' meeting was called to order. at 7: 30 P. M. by Mayor BonJorn, ,wi:th :the :following members present: Mes'srs. Beals, Hoskinson and Turville. Other officials present ' were: Man~ger McIntosh, Deputy Clerk 'Carroll, ,Attorney Langley, Superintendent Sheldon, ,Assistant Superintendent Creech and Buildi!lg Inspector Snyder. Oth.ers present were:, Messrs. Clyde :Thomasof the Lake'County, Health Depart- mentand Howard Young. Representatives 'Of the Orlando Sentinel and the' local Pres's were also present. The :Invocation was,gi veri by City, Attorney, Richard Langley,. Therninutes of the meetings held on Tuesday, ,August, ,3,' ,1965 and Wednesday, ,A~gust4, ,1965 were'approved as written. ' Councilmen York and .Pool 'arrived at :this time" Mr. Clyde ,Thomas, ,Lake County, Health Department Sanitarian, ,appeared before ,the :Councilrequesting the 'City, to enforce ,condemnation of the' sanitary sewage disposal system located at 197 Lake Minneola Drive and owned by Mr . Jacob' Lucas,' as recommended by. the Lake :Co,unty, Health Department . It was the consensus of the' Council to detain action of this request until such time more concrete evidence :is pres'ented. ,The matter was referred to Man~ger McIntosh and Mr. Thomas for further invest~gation. Mayor BonJorn reported that ,inasmuch as a vacancy existed on the 'Bi-r~("';~l Committee,: ,the ,scheduled meeting had be'en postponed until 'Such 'time 'anew member is appointed. Councilman York ,recommended that ,the, :vacancy be 'filled by the 'new Supervising Principal of the 'Clermont High :School,' Mr. Brown. Motion was made by Mr. Pool, ,seconded by Mr., ,~o~~ ,and carried, ,that the, bill in the amount 'of $74.23' from Clermont Builders Supply, Inc. covering matccrials purchased by' members of the Clermont 'Jr. Chambe'r,of CoIninerce :and ' used at 'the 'Jaycee Beach" be paid. Manager McIntosh reported that the' 'price 'of $4.5.0to'$500 for lots' lying adjacent to Oakhill Cemet:ery as offered for sale' by 'Mr. .E., B. Collette to the City"was not ,feasible, :and that he, 'did notrec'ommend their purchase'. No action was taken. ~anager McIntoshrep'Or,ted that he 'had received the 'necessary res'erva- tions 'for' attending the 'Florida League :of Municipali ti'es' Convention to be held in Miami Beach on October 24,:' ,1965. Pool, seconded by Mr. Hoskinson and carried, ,that the :recommeridation of Mr. Langley be :accepted and the Tax Assessor so advised. Manager McIntosh reported and rec'ommended that until :such ,time 'as the' City, can acquire ,additional property in the area of Jaycee Beach,: ,that :it was not geometrically feasible ,to pursue :therelo'cationof ,State'Road #561 for additional parki!lg 'area and beaut'ification. Motion was made by Mr. Beals, ,se'con~ed by ,Mr. Pool and carried, ,that the. ,recommendation of Mah~ger McIntosh be accepted and the 'necessary bids obtained. e e MINUTES N? 275 Man~ger McIntosh pres'ented copies' of' a proposed lease'agreement' for the 'Jaycee 'Beach Rest'aurant" ,as prepared bY. the' Parks Committee' ,and City AttorneyL~gley, ,for the Council's, consideration. Motion was made by Mr. Pool, ,seconded by Mr., YO,rkand carried, ,that a public adver,tisemerit be',run advisi~g that ,the Jaycee Beach Res'taurant was available' :for lease'.' Councilman Beals'reported that the Jr. Chamber, of commer,ce had now decided to install "safety limitsU, line :at ~the' 'Jaycee' :Be.ach, ,and he inquired of Mr. Turville if he :still intended donating the 'neces's'ary nylon line ,for same.' Mr. Turville' ,advised that he, did and' that ~the 'line :could be picked up at his 'shop. Councilman Beals reported that new ,screens had been installed at ~the Jaycee 'Beach Restaurant buildi~g. Councilman Beals,' ,reporting for W., ,H. McQuistion, ,custodian of Kehler Park" ,thanked the ,Co,uncil for the:ir splendid cooperation ,this past' year in , meeting requests for ,general maintenance' :and beautification of the 'shuffle- board' courts 'and the' 'entire Kehlor Park 'area. Mr. Beals commented that he' thought Mr. McQuistion had been most' ,reasonable in his request's made 'this year, ,and was 'sure :that ,the :Council was appreciative of this. Councilman Pool reported that :crews had not been ,available' 'for the ' repairing of sidewalks: recently " ,but ,that ,this work would res~ume' :following Labor Day. Mr. Pool further reported 'that a portion of curbing near the' , Chamber of Conunerce Office needed to, be :replaced ,and that he' 'would oonfer with Superintendent Sheldon r~gardingthis matter" ,soon. These',req.uests were ,referred to Manager McIntosh and City, Attorney Langley. Mr. C. Mayor BonJorn' reported to the :council that he had been selecte'd as , Chairman of the newly formed Civic Be:autification conuni ttee,: ,and u:rged the council's help and cooperation in this program.
