history, heritage, and achievement, enriching the social, cultural, and economic fabric of
The City of Clermont; and
"l�V!Lerecz_s� Jamaica celebrates its 641th Anniversary of Independence in 2026,
commemorating its emergence as a sovereign nation on August 6, 1962, and honoring the
resilience, accomplishments, and cultural contributions of the Jamaican people worldwide;
and
-1'1 OLM-P eLL_4. members of the Jamaican Diaspora continue to make significant contributions
to education, healthcare, business, public service, law, the arts, science, and community
development, strengthening the communities in which they live and serve; and
-WFX40YeGZS, the Jamaican American Association of Central Florida, Inc_ (JAAOCF) has,
for more than four decades, remained steadfast in its mission to preserve and promote
Jamaican culture, provide educational opportunities through scholarships, support youth
development, offer community initiatives, and foster community engagement throughout
Central Florida; and
'l�VlieYeas, the JAAOCF•s Annual Jamaica Independence and Scholarship Awards Gala
serves as a meaningful celebration of Jamaica's heritage and culture while recognizing
outstanding students, community leaders, and orgar.;mations whose achievements inspire
future generations; and
-yh/2erecz s� the 2026 Gala theme, "One Jamaica, One People, One Future," reflects the
enduring spirit of unity, pride, diversity, and cultural excellence that continues to connect
Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica across generations and communities; and

promoting educational advancement, and recognizing the valuable contributions of all
