A business and discussion meeting of the City Council of the City
of Clermont was held in the office of the City Manager on Tuesday, April
26, 1966. All Council members were present as well as Mayor BonJorn,
City Attorney Langley, Superintendent Sheldon, Clerk Johnson and Messrs.
James Westbrook and Floyd Groo of Michaels Engineering Company.
The unsatisfactory condition of the new well at
Bloxam Avenues was discussed at considerable length.
as to the present status of tests being made. It was
to defer any action pending completion of the tests.

Motion was made by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr. Cochran, that
the rule of written notice for special meetings be waived and that the
Council sit in regular session to consider any business which may come
before it. The motion unanimously carried.
Mr. Langley reported on the present status.of Ambulance Service
in Lake County and particularly Clermont. He called to the attention of
the Council that the existing ambulance service throughout the county
would be discontinued April 30th, and recommended that some emergency
action be taken. It was further brought out and discussed that any
ambulance service to be owned, operated, or paid for by Lake County, or
by hospital districts will have to be deferred until after the next
session of the Legislature in order that taxing powers may be provided.
Mr. Langley recommended and was strongly supported by City Clerk
Johnson that the City Council take some action whereby the City Manager
be given the authority to represent the City of Clermont in the execution
of an agreement or contract with Herndon Ambulance Service whereby
ambulance service will be available to the City of Clermont after April
30th.
Motion was made by Mr. Turville and seconded by Mr. VanderMeer
that in the event that no feasible alternative is presented prior to
April 30th and provided that the existing ambulance service in Lake County
is not extended beyond April 30th, that the City Manager be, and is
hereby, authorized to represent the City of Clermont in the execution of
an agreement or contract with Herndon Ambulance Service to station an
ambulance in Clermont in order to provide ambulance service for South
Lake County; that the duration of such agreement be limited to a maximum
of one year if possible and that the City of Clermont agree to pay
Herndon Ambulance Company a service fee of $15.00 each for all calls
originating in the Police Department or from any other City official. The
motion carried with Mr. Hoskinson voting nay.
Meeting adjourned.
Immediately following the meeting Mr. Hoskinson called a meeting of
the Building Committee. Following a short discussion it was unanimously
decided that an aluminum railing should be installed along the steps at
the fire exit on the West side of Jenkins Auditorium and the City Manager
was directed to so advise Mr. Stiggins the architect. It was also decided
to get cost estimates on tile for the rest rooms.
