ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City
of Clermont was hE~ld in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday -
December 18,1962. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
by Council Chairman William Boyd, with all Council members present.
Other officials present were: Mayor BonJorn, Clerk JOhnson, Deputy
Clerk Carroll, City Attn'y. Morse, Sup't. Sheldo~ Bldg.Inspector
Snyder and Chief ()f Police Tyndal. Others present were: Ji~
Lee Jackson and rl3presentati ves of the Orlando Sentinel and the
local Press.
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on Tuesday -
December 4, 1962, were approved as written.
Mr. Bishop, Ghr. of the Streets Committee, reported that
Sup't. Sheldon had recommended that the City purchase a centri-
fugal pump to be 1llsed for sand sucking, and submitted a cost of
one at $226.00. ]~otion was then made by Mr. Bishop, seconded .by
Mr. Pool and carried, that the recommendation of Sup't. Sheldon
be accepted and the Clerk be authorized to issue the necessary
purchase order for one centrifugal pump at a cost of $226.00.
Jimmy Lee Jackson appeared before the Council and requested
that inasmuch as he had been unable to secure the building located
at 1017 4th Street in which to move his business (Oak Front Cafe)
temporarily, that he now requested permission to move his business
to the building located at 431 Highway # 50. Motion was made by
Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Pool and carried, that Jimmy Lee Jackson
be granted permission to move his business temporarily (up to a
period of six months) into a building located at 431 Highway # 50.
Sup't. Sheldon reported that the mercury switches on two of
the pumps located at the Lake Avenue-DeSoto Street wells, were in
need of replacing. Motion by Mr. Turville, seconded by Mr.Pool
and carried, that Sup't. Sheldon be authorized to change the two
mercury switches in question.
Mr. Pool, Cbr. of the Parks Committee, reported that there
was quite extensive freeze damage to the shrubs and plants, re-
cently planted around Center Lake. Mr. Pool further reported that
he hoped to have a proposed plan for new lighting of the shuffle-
board courts, rea.dy to submit for the Council's consideration at
the next meeting.
Mr. York, Chr. of the Building Committee, recommended and
moved, that an e~~ension of time to the end of February - 1963,
be granted to the owner of the condemned boat house located on ,
Lots 7-10 of Block BB, City of Clermont. The motion was seconqed
by Mr. Turville, amd c~rried.
Clerk Johnson reported that a new street light had been
installed at the intersection of Grand Highway and Highway # 50.
Sup't. Sheldon reported that the installation of new watet
lines along Secor~ Street was progressing. Sup't. Sheldon further
reported that thElre had. been some damage to streets due to the
recent freeze whlch would require patching and some sand-sealing,
but that he did !lot consider this damage to be extensive.
Clerk Johnson read a letter of Thanks from the official board
of Cooper Memorial Library, for the city's financial assistance.

Motion was Dlade by Mr. Pool, seconded by Mr.Bishop and carried,
that Mayor BonJorn be authorized to execute a Deed of Correction
between the City, of Clermont and Morris Lee Smith and wife, Annie
Mae Smith. I
Clerk Johnson reported that he had not obtained all the infor-
mation necessary'with regards a new fire siren, but that he hoped
to have same by 1;he next meeting.
The Council was in agreement that inasmuch as the regular
meeting in January falls on New Years Night, that it would be ad-
journed until Tuesday - January 8, 1963 at 7:30 P.M.
Motion by M:r. Turville, seconded by Mr.York and carried that
