ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourne.! meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the office of the City Clerk on Tuesday,
November 201 196:2. The meeting was called to order at 7:;0 P. M.
by Councim vhairlnan W. W. Boyd, with all Council members present.
Other officials lpresent were: Mayor Bon Jorn, Clerk Johnson,
Deputy Clerk Carroll, City Attorney Morse, Superintendent Sheldon,
Building Inspect10r Snyder, Chief of Police Tyndal and Patrolman
Fowler. Others :present were: Messrs. Lee Fowler and C. Roy
Rook. A represe:o.tati ve of the Orlando Sentinel was also
present.
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on Tuesday,
November 6, 1962, were approved as written.
Chief of Police Tyndal reported on the sale of Occupational
Licenses, and, that he had made inspection of the blind corner
at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Lake Avenue and
found that the street right-of-way was very narrow at this
corner, but that.. he would Cb the best he coUld in having the
blind spot elimi:nated.
Chairman Bo:yd requested that the Police Department investi-
gate the intersections of 5th and Seminole (N.W. corner) and
Disston and Minnehaha Avenues (S. W. corner) as blind corners
also.
Superintendent Sheldon reported that since the removal
of the T & G railroad ties from various intersections, that the
sand had settled leaving large holes that were hazardous , and,
that the railroad engineers had contacted him some time ago with
regards to fixing these intersections and that he had had the
city engineers submit specifications for the repair of same,
but had heard nothing since from the railroad company. Clerk
Johnson was instructed to contact the Chief Engineer of the T & G
Railroad in an attempt to have this matter corrected immediately.
Councilman Pool reported that he had been requested by the
South Lake Waterways Assodtation to have the canal between Lakes
Winona and Minnehaha dredged out in order that it might be used
by al~ boats. Mr. Pool was advised that Superintendent Sheldon
was to take care of this matter as soon as time permitted.
Councilman Turville, Chairman of the Laws and Auditing
Committee, read an Agreement, prepared by City Attorney Morse,
stipulating time limits for the beginning of construction of
a shopping center on certain property, owned by Messrs. Boyett
and Wolfe, and under consideration by the City Council for
rezoning. The Agreement was referred to Mayor Bon Jorn for
study and recomm,endations.
Councilman Pool, Chairman of the Parks Committee, requested
and moved ~hat $950.00 be au~horized for ~he beautification
of Cen~er Lake Park. The motion died for lack of a second.
Considerable discussion followed regarding the matter, whereupon
Mr. Pool requested and moved that $750.00 be authoDizllrd for
the beautification of Center Lake Park. The motion was
seconded by Mr. ,Bishop and carried, with Mr. Turville voting
Naye.
Mr. Pool reported that the planting of the flower garden
at Kehlor Park h.ad been completed and was growing, and, that
his Committee he.d been conferring with Mr. Colegrove of Florida
Power with rega~ds a new lighting system for Kehlor Park and
hoped to submit: a plan of same in the very near future.
Clerk J ohnsion submitted a petition from property owners
for the re14zoniIlg of certain property abutting East Highway
#50. Motion wasl made by Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Bishop and
carried, that the petition be referred to the Zoning Commission
for their study and recommendations.

Clerk J'ohnson submitted a request by Mr. Clint Hooten
for the sale of Beer and Wine - package only - at his business
located at 1265 Highway #2f}. After establishing that the
sale of beer and wine at this location did not violate existing
zoning ordinancesl, motion by Mr. BishOp, seconded by Mr. Pool
and carried, that; this request be granted.
Clerk Johnscin read a Thank You Note to the Council from
the Clermont Welf'are League, for the city's splendid cooperation
in conjunction with their annual Halloween Carnival.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mr. T. C. Cork, representing
Mr. William Kern, elabing he was entitled to payment for certain
p~erty used for right-of-way of Scott Street. The matter was
referred to City .Attorney Morse.
Clerk Johnso:o. opened a bid from Basic Aspp:alt Corporation
for the capping of approximately 1300' of streets in "the Lincoln
Park area in the i!lIllOunt of $.55 per square yard. .Motion by
Mr. Bishop, seconded by Mr. Turville and carried, that the
bid of Basic Asphl!ilt be accepted and Clerk Johnson was instructed
to issue the nece 13Sary work order for same.

Motion was made by Mr. Bishop, seconded by Mr. Pool and
carried, th~t the N 50' of W 115' of NW ~ of Lot 3; N 50' of
W 50' of E 150' of :NW ;4 of Lot 3; N 50' of W 50' of E 100' of NY}!.
of Lot 3; N 50' of W 50' of E 200' of N1J~ of Lot 3; and N 50'
of E 50' of J:QW'}4 of Lot 3, all in Block "0", according to the
official map of the City of Clermont, be accepted as street
right-of-way and t:hat such street be designated as a continua-
tion of Minneola A~enue.
Motion by Mr. Pool, secondea by Mr. Turville and carried,
that J. B. Fullwood be reimbursed in the amount of $150.00
for expenditure made by him at the Police Station.
Clerk Johnson reported that he was having some minor
difficulty in the ,collection of occupational licenses for rental
apariiments. Clerk Johnson was instructed to proceed with the
collections of samte as set forth by the Occupational License
Ordinance.
Chairman Boyd called a Special Meeting of the City Council
for Friday, November 23rd at 5 o'clock P. M. to canvas the
petition of the cWldidates and to authorize the preparation
of the ballots.
Chairman Boyd called a special meeting of the City
Council for Monday, December 3rd at 7:30 P. M. to canvas the
Registration Roll.
Chairman Boyd adjourned the meeting to an Executive
Session.
At the conclul3ion of the executive session the meeting
was adjourned until Friday, November 23, 1962 at 5:00 P. M.
