SPECIAL MEETING

A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held in the City Administration Building on
Friday, May 25, 1962. The meeting was called to order by
Chairman William Boyd at 1:00 P. M. with all Councilmen
present with the exception of Mr. Bishop. Mayor Bon Jorn and
City Clerk Johnson were also present.
Chairman Boyd stated that the primary purpose of the
meeting was to consider the request, made by Dr. Weaver, to
install radio transmission equipment at the Police Station,
with such equipment to be operated by City paid personnel.
Mayor Bon Jorn stated that he was of the opinion that the
city should receive some compensation for this service if
permission for the installation should be granted. After
considerable discussion regarding the matter Chairman Boyd
stated that final action would be deferred pending further
investigation.
Motion was made by Mr. Pool, seconded by Mr. Turville,
and carried that Clerk Johnson be authorized to engage
Charles Driggs as a Life Guard at the Jaycee Beach during
the summer months, with the understanding that the Life Guard
service would be under the direct supervision of the Police
Chief.
Motion was made by Mr. Pool, seconded by Mr. Turville
and carried, that Clerk Johnson issue the necessary work order
for the installation of a metal flag pole on top of the
Administration building.
Clerk Johnson was authorized and instructed to have the
small metal Fire Department boat placed at the Jaycee Beach t
in order that it would be available for rescue work if needed:
It being understood that a set of oars and oar locks are to ~

be provided for the boat, and that the boat is to be locked
and the oars stored in the Beach building during the night.
Motion by Mr. York, seconded by Mr. Pool, and carried
that meeting adjourn.
