REGULAR MEETING

A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held at the city hall, Tuesday, December
4, 1956. The meeting was called to order by Councilman
chairman Harold Turville at 7:30 P. M. with the following
members present: Beals, Jensen and Turville. Mr.
Grant arrived later in the evening. others present were
Mayor Boyd, Supt. Sheldon, and City attorney Morse.
Mrs. George Rudd waS a visitor.
The minutes of the meetings held November 20 and
November 29th, 1956 were read and approved as corrected.
Mr. Beals reported that work was progressing on the re-
surfac ing of a part of Grand highway.
Mr. Beals reported that the Lake County Health Department
expected to be in a position to handle garbage from
Clermont after January 1st, at the new locat~on.
Mayor Eoyd submitted the Police Chiefs repDDt for the
month of November. The same was accepted and ordered filed.
Mayor Boyd Recommended that section 8 of Ordinance 80
be amended to allow the counc il to set the salary of the
municipal judge. The matter was referred to city attorney

Mayor Boyd recommended that lot 38, block 7, Sunnyside
Unit be ~fered for sale to the general public at a price
of t550.00. No action was taken.
Clerk Johnson stated that he had. a request for prices
on those lots in the tieEth half of block 5.
It was the decision of the council that they would not
price, or offer for sale, any city property at this time.
Mayor Boyd recommended that the council investigate the
possibility of obtaining a grant from goverment agencies
for the purpose of making a new sewerage disposal survey
of the city. Mayor BOJld was asked to get partictulars
regarding the matter.
Clerk Johnson was instructed to collect all past due water
accounts from Preston Maynard by December 15th, 1956, or
to have the water service to Mr. Maynard discontinued.
Mayor Boyd requ&sted that special permission be given
regarding the paving width of Settle street- inasmuch as
city ordinances requires street right-of-ways of not less
than sixty feet and said Settle street is only twenty
feet in width. The matter was referred to the Streets
Committee for investigation.

Mayor Boyd recommended that city crews clean up all vacant
property at city expense. No action taken.
Mayor Boyd recommended that the city purchase a chipping
machine for use in the hauling of trash. Mayor Boyd stated.
that the aproximate price of such a machine was $2,000.00.
Mayor Boyd waS informed that the budget did not provide
for such purchase.
Motion by Jensen, seconded by Beals and carried that
the water account on Woodruff Apartments be adjusted
as follows: The additional charges of five dollars now
being made be reducttd to 1.00 monthly and that a credit
of four dollars monthly be allorlied for those months
having the five dollar additional charge. This action
was taken due to said apartments not having kitchen
facilities in but one apartment.
The matter of closing Minnehaha avenue East of highway 27
and South of highway 50 was discussed. The matter was
referred to the Streets committee.

Motion by Beals, seconded by Jensen and carried that the
Fire department members be reembursed for the equipment
which they donated to the cityo The amount of the re-
embursement to be ~200000e
~Iro Sheldon reported that John Henry Brown had agreed
to repair the side walk on Montrose street, between Lake
drive and Fourth street, and on Minneola Avenue at the
corner of Second street, at a cost of $22000e
Motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Beals and carried
that the repairs to the sidewalks in question be made.
The council considered a bid from Acme Glass Company
in the amount of ~387.00, for the installation of a
glass door in the fron of the city hall. The matter
was tabled.
Motion by Beals, seconded by Jensen and carried that
the bills be paido
Clerk Johnson was instructed to write to Harper Motor
Company, Redmond Ford Agency and Sun Chevrolet Company
and request full specifications and list prices on all
models of Police Special cars offered in their linese
The registration rolls of the city of Clermont were
check by the council and declared correct as corected.
A general discussion took place with regards to certain
changes in the local Electrical code and City attorney
Morse was directed to submit certain proposed amendments
to the code at the next council meeting for consideratione
Motion was made by Beals, seconded by Jensen and carried
that the city publish a notice notifying the general
public that they are considering closing that fractional
part of Minnehaha Avenue lying East of Rill of State Road
25, U. So 27 and lying Northernly and Southernly of R/w
of State road 50. A copy appears following these minutes.
