ADJOURNED MEETING

An adjourRed meeting of the city Council of the city of
Clermont was held at the city hall, Tuesday December 18,
1956 .
The meeting was called to order at 8:45 P. M. with th6
following meabers present: Turvi11e, Grant and Jensen.
Mr. Turvil1e presided.
Others present were Mayor Boyd, C1ty attorney Morse,
Supt. Sheldon, Patrolman Parker, Mrs. Harris, Mr. O. H.
Keene, Mr. Howard Young am.d Mr. Blanton I1cBride.
The minutes of the meetings held December 4th, December
10th and December 12th, all in 1956, were read and approved.
Motion was made by Grant, seconded by Jensen and carried that
the city furnish materials for the construction of a retaining
wall in connection witp the new shuffle board courts being
constructed at Kehlor park.
Mayor Boyd reported that he had made an investigation of
the front yard setback for the houses being constructed on East
avenue by Mr. Cassin, and found the houses in question to
be approximately six feet from the front property line.
Motion by Grant, seconded by Jensen and carried that the city
pay the repair bill of approximately $20.00 on the car damaged
while in the posession of the local Police Deparbment, said
car having been loaned to them by Sun Chevrolet Co.
Ma or Boyd again brought up the matter of revised plans for
city Bewa~ disposal s.ystem. A discussion followed with no
action being taken.
Mayor Boyd returned to the Council Ordinance number 150,
relative to the closing of DeSoto street West of TWelfth
street ,with the statement that he was opposed to the
Ord1nance. He further stated that being opposed to the
Ordinance he was returning it without his official signature,
but that he would not veto it.
Motion was made by Grant, seconded by Jensen and carried
that Supt. Sheldon be authorized to spend up to $100.00
for the purpose of having an existing street sweeper mounted
on wheels.
Motion was made by Grant, seconded by Jensen and carried that
tax statement numbered 1835 be canceled as 1t had been assessed
through error. The amount of at atement be ing $4.80.
Motion was made by Grant, seconded by Jemsen and carried
that tax statement numbered 1594, in the amount of $2.41,
be canceled as the assessment had been made through error.

Clerk Johnsan read a letter from W. H. McQuistion, ohairman
of the Zoning Board of appeals, wherein it was recommended
that the side line requirements of lots l-Z-3 & 4, and
lots 7-9-10 & 11 be reduoed to eight feet on that side
abutting the ten foot easement running l10rth and South
through Lake Highlands Estate Subdivision.
Motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Grant and oarried
that, in line with the recommendations of the Zoning Board
of Appeals, and taking into consideration the ten foot
easement through the property, that Mr. E. O. Hodge be
allowed a permit to construot his home within eight feet
of the property line of 1ibt 6, Lake Highlands Eat ate , on
the East side of said lot.
Clerk Johnson opened bids for the oonstruotion of a city barn
with the bids being as follows: C. H. Keene- $4,285.54,
South Lake Construction Co. - 4,300.00, and Lewis Moore-
4,000.00.

Motion wasmade by Grant, \ $8 0 Ohded by Jensen and carried
that a contract for the construction of the city barn be
awarded to Lewis Moore at a price of $4,000.00, provided
said Lewis Moore furnish the city with a performance
bond and enter into a contract with the city. Payment s
to be one half upon execution of the contract and balance
upon completion.
Motion by Jensen, seconded by Grant and carried that the
offer of Mr. E. B. Cashwell be accepted and that the city
furniSh the materials for the replacement of a sidewalk in
froat of that city property on eighth street now being
occupied by William Boyd.
Motion by Grant, seconded by Jensen and carried that

1:00 p. M.
