09-04-1956 Regular Meeting REGULAR MEETING -- A Regular meet ing of the City Counc il of the City of Clermont was held at the city hall Tuesday, September 4, 1956. The meeting was called to order by Council President Har&ld Turville at 7::30 P. M. with all members present. Others present were Mayor Boyd, Supt. Sheldon, Mr. Howard Mooney, Mr. Fred Wolfe and Mr. Harry Brown. The minutes of the meeting held August 21, 1956 were read and approved. Mr. Wolfe spoke to the Council relative to certain items in local news papers relative to statements attributed to Mayor Boyd wherein it was suggested that the city had opened certain streets and installed certain water mains at the request of, and for the partictular benefit of, Wolfe and Konsler and Clermont Builders Supply. Me. Wolfe stated that he had not made such request for water lines. Mayor Bopd stated that he had been misquoted and. that he had stated that the water mains had been laid as a part of the Water System elltension, mainly for Fire protection. The press was requested to quote Mayor Boyd I s latest statement. Mr. Howard Mooney, representing Mr. Charles Roe, requested that DeSot 0 Street, from 12th street to the We stern limit s of the city be closed. Mr. Mooney was requested to put his request in the form of a letter to the city and the matter would then be discussed with the city attorney and he would be given an answer as soon as possible. Mr. Harry Bno6Nn protested the extra living unit charge placed 011. his duplex by the water departmentand further stated that he thought that business places in the city should be charged additional for garbage disposal. Mr. Brown further suggested that the city pass an ordinance prohibiting ~ persons from being on the J. C. Beach after certain hours. No action taken on these matters. Motion was made by Meeker, seconded by Grant Clerk Johnson be authorized to issue a check Chamber of Commerce in the amount of '250.00 the budget. Motion by Jensen, seconded by Grant and carried that Supt. Sheldon be authorized to lay a six inch water main on Bloxam avenue from Minnehaha Avenue to Oak Drive and that fire hyarant s be located at Bloxam and Minnehaha and Bloxam and Oak Drive. and carried that to the Junior as set forth in -- Motion by Meeker, seconded by Beals that bills be paid. Motion by Jensen, seconded by Meeker that Mayor Boyd be authorized to have the city jail and fire station fumigated. At the reque.st of Mr. Elbert Cashwell, the counc1J( agreed to furnish the cla.v, fand.:.te spread and roll Broome street from Disston to Scott after Mr. Cashwell haGl cleared and graded said street. Motion by Jensen, seconded by Meeker and. carried that the resturant at the J. C. Beach be billed the minimum water fee each month.
