REGULAR MEETING

A regular meeting of the city Council af the city af
Clermont was held at the city hall Tuesday, July 3,
1956.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Council
President, Harold Turville, with all members present with
the exception of Mr. Grant who arrived at about 8:30.
Others present were Mayor Boyd, City attorney Morse, Supt.
,SheldoB, Tax assessor Stanley and Fireman Fullweed.
The minutes of the meeting held June 19, 1956 were read
and approved.
Police Chief Clark submitted his monthly report.
Mrs. Carelyn Stanley, city tax Assessor, submitted her
proposed tax rolls fer the taxable year 1956.
Mr. Jensen reported that he had contacted Mr. E. G.
Winston regarding the preparation of a Water Main map
and that Mr. Winsten had quoted a price of three hundred
dellars for the job. Mr. Jensen was instructed to
contact other qualified persons in an effort to obtain
a lower cost on the job.
Mr. Beals reported that two members of the Lake County
Health department and himself had made a survey of the city
in an. effort to determine if empty cans, bottles and other
moisture holding vessels were h:~source of mosquito breeding.
Mr. Beals further reported that t:.1ey had found very little
evidence of such breeding places and that the Health Dept.
officers were of the opinion that some of the ponds in Clermo:at
were the main breeding grounds for mosquitos and that these
ponds weuld be sprayed as soon as possible.
Mr. Beals reported that Mrs. Fullwoed had. requested awnings
fpr two of the windows in her apartment. Mr. Beals was requested
te secure bids on awnings for all of the upstairs windows on '
the West side of the city hall.
Mayor Boyd suggested that some changes be made in the recently
adopted electrical code. No action was taken.
Mayor Boyd informed the Council that there was to be a Peace
Officers convention at Daytona and that officer Parker would like
to attend if the city would pay his expenses.
Motion was made by Beals, seconded by Jensen and carried
that the city pay the normal expenses of officer Parker while
attending the cQnvention.

Mayor Boyd reported that the roof of his office had been
leaking during the recent heavy rains.
Motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Beals and carried
that Mayor Boyd be authorized to have the roof repaired.
Mr. Meeker, chairman of the Streets Committee, submitted 11"
a petetion, signed by the necessary abutting property owners,
for the paving of Disston Ave. from Minnehaha Avenue to
Palm Lane. The petetion was referred to the Streets
Committee for recommendations.

Er. Beals offered, and moved that it be passed, a
RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of lots 4 to
7 inclusive, Block 117, Johnson's replat, from
American National Foods, at a price of Two Thousand
dollars ($2,000.00) and such resolution also containing
the provision for a perpetual easement for driveway,
or roadway, over and through the West forty feet of
lot 3, Block 117, Johnson's replat. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Meeker and upon roll call vote the
ayes were Turville, Grant, Meeker, Beals and Jensen.

A copy of the resolution appears immediately following
these minutes.
Motion by Beals, seconded Meeker that bills be paid.
Motion Jensen, seconded Grant that Meeting adjourn.

WHEREAS, tbe American National Foods, Inc. are the owners
of Lots 1 to 7, inclusive, 810ck 111, as represented on the map
of Joh1J.$on'S Replat as f11e4 8/29/26 and recorded in Plat Book 8,
page 71, Public Records ot Lake County, Florida, and said corpora-
t10n is willing to sell and convey to the City of Clermont, Lots
4 to 7. incl\t8ive. thereof, a.nd to furrlisb to the City, Without
additional eost a perpetual easement for driv~way, roa4, or
right-Of-way purposes over, through and across the West 40 teet
of the South 100 feet of Lot 8., for the total purchase price of
Two Thousan4 Dollars ($2,000.00), Which amount the City finds to
be reasonab1e, and that the sa14 corporation will furnisb Title
Insurance anel the required state and Feelera1 docWlentary stamps,
eonveying $$me by deed of conveyance containing the usual oovenants

Dollars ($2,000.00), which price is to be paid and delivered to

Ins\1raDce, and when said title is approved by hbl, tbe Cityls,
authoJ;"1zed to take 4el1ve:ry of the deed of eODveyanc:e and the
easement, and ibe Clerk of theeit, of Clermont is instructed
to d~liver to s$id corporation, its Agent or Attorney, the CitY'$
