05-01-1956 Regular Meeting REGULAR MEETING -- A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held at the City Hall Tuesday, May 1, 1956. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairman Harold Turville at 7:30 p.m. with the following Councilmen present; Turville, Grant, Beals and Meeker. Others present were Mayor Boyd, City Attorney Morse, City Superintendent Sheldon, Police Chief Clark and Fireman Fulwood. The minutes of the meeting held April 24, 1956, were read and approved as corrected. Mr. Grant, Chairman of the Parks Committee, recommended and moved that the City advise Mr. Williams, principal of the colored school, that $125.00 was budgeted for their Summer Recreation Program and would be made available to them as soon as said Principal Williams and all members of his com- mittee appeared before the Council and had their summer program approved. Motion was seconded by Mr. Meeker and carried. Mr. Grant, Chairman of the Building Committee, reported that his committee had met with Superintendent Sheldon, Mr. Cole- grove, Mr. Holbrook and Mr. Brantly and tentatively adopted a proposed electrical code for the City. Vice Chairman Turville referred the matter to the Laws and Auditing Committee for further study and final recommendations. Motion by Beals, seconded by Meeker and carried, that the rates to be raid for the reading of City water meters be in- creased to 5~i per meter. Mayor Boyd brought up the matter of the extension of Minneola Avenue some two years ago by Council action and requested that steps be taken toward the collection of the cost of such extension. Mr. Turville assured Mr. Boyd that he would look into the matter. Mayor Boyd recommended that the Oity put a wire fence around the water tank property on East Highland Avenue. The matter was referred to the Water Committee for an estimate of the cost and their recommendations. Mayor Boyd recommended that the City consider the printing of its existing Ordinances in a bound copy when making up next years budget. Mr. Sheldon was instructed to furnish a guide for the musquito spray truck only when it was necessary, to show new dtivers the route to be traveled. Notion by Meeker, seconded by Grant, that all bills be paid. Carried. Motion by Grant, seconded by Meeker and carried, that an account in the amount of $546.31 to Sanger Builders Supply be paid and charged to the Youth Center project.
