REGULARLY ADJOURNED MEETING

A regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the
City of Clermont was held at the city hall, Tuesday
March 20, 1956.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by
Council President, E. G. Winston, with all Council members
present with the exception of Mr. Grant who came in later
in the meeting. Others present were Supt. Sheldon and for
the last part of the meeting City attorney Morse.
The minutes of the meeting held March 6, 1956 were read
and approved.
Mr. Turville reported on sidewalk construction plans.
Mr. Meeker reported that progress continued on the paving
of King street and a part of Drew avenue.
Mayor Boyd that the city grant permission for Supt. Sheldon
to purchase certain needed traffic signs.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by Turville and carried that
Supt. Sheldon be authorized to purchase the necessary traffic
signs.
Motion by Beals, seconded by Turville and carried that the
city purchase approximately 3.2 acres of land from Mr. Bauerle
at a total price of $5,500.00, to be p~id $1,100.00 cash
and the remainder, on or before, in yearly payments of
~1,100.00 each at 5% interest. This additional land to be
used for cemetary purposes.
The matter of a demonstration of a Street Sweeper was discussed.
No action was taken and the matter tabled.
The matter of engaging an additional part time police officer
was discussed and it was decided that such addition would not
be made at this time as the amount budgeted covered only the
number now on the force. I'1r. Beals stated that the Police
Commission had instructed the police department to have one
man, on foot, in the downtown section on Saturday night during
certain hours and that the practice of having two men in the
patrol car he discontinued.
Mayor Boyd stated that he had received a letter from the
State road department to the effect that they could not
recommend that the area along the J. C. Beach be changed to
a fiNo Passing" zone, nor ~ould they recommend that the speed
limit be reduced to less than twenty five miles per hour.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by Turville and carried that
a bill in the amount of ~n95.00 to C. H. Willard for
sur~eying services be paid.

Mot ion by Meel{er, seconded by Turville and carried that account s
to CI rmont Builders Supply and Sanger Builders Supply for
materials furnished for the construction of the Youth Center
be paid.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Mrs. Howard Case, wherein
Mrs. Case objected to the location of a Skating Rink in her
locality.
Motion by Turville, seconded by Meeker and carried that the
City purchase from .American National FOod.s,.dot s 4-5-6 & 7,
Block 117, Johnson's Replat, at a cash price of ~2,OOO.00.
Mr. Beals recommended that the Building Committee investigate
the Sanitary facilities of the property located on lot 17,
Block 98.
Motion was made by Meeker, seconded by Turville and carried
that the city Electrical Code Ordinance be amended to
require that a disconnection switch be installed ahead of
electrical meters on all future work.

Motion by Turville, seconded by Beals and carried that the
Police Department be authorized to have the city's radio
station moved from its present location at the water tower
to the city hall atva cost not to 'exceed $75.00.
Motion by Meeker, seconded by Beals that Pounds Motor Company
of Winter Garden be requested to make a demonstartion of the
Tractor which they are offering for sale to the City of
Clermont.
Such matters as the engaging of a part time Building and
Electrical Inspector, locations for a sewage disposal plant,
the sale of certain city owned property, the furnishing of water
out side of the city limit s and the amendment of the Ordinance
on water rates were discussed.
