REGULAR MEETING

A regular meeting of the city Council of the city of Clermont was
held at the city hall, Tuesday, July 5, 1955.
Themeeting was called to order by Council President, E. G. Winston,
at 7:30 P. M. with the following members present: Winston, Konsler
and Olivenbaum. Mr. Grant came in later in the meeting. Absent:
Beal. Others present were mayor Boyd, city attorney Morse, Supt.
Sheldon, Mr. RickIe, Mr. Linderman, Mrs. Caughell, Mrs. Arnett,
Mrs. Berryman and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson.
The minutes of the meeting held J1Jne 21, 1955 were read and approved
as read.

Mr. RickIe spoke to the council regarding the paving of Grand
highway adjacent to Lake View heights. Mr. RickIe informed the
council that his company would be willing to share in the costs.
The Street Committee agreed to meet with Mr. Hickle on the after-
noon of the sixth to look into the matter.
f'fr. Linderman informed the council that the paving and repairing
of certain streets in the Alta Vista subdivision had been completed
and that he was now willing to turn said street s over to the city,
and to pay his assessments for paving Bloxam avenue at the same time.
Mr. Linderman W8S informed that the Streets 60mmittee would look
into the situation the following afternoon.
f'frs. Arnett spoke to the council regarding the parking situation
at Cooper Memorial Library. The matter was turned over to the mayor.
'Mrs. Berryman gave the Council a brief report of the financial
condition of Cooper Memorial Library and requested that the Council
consider their Tleeds when making up next years budget.
Mrs. Caughell spoke to the Council regarding the locating of
children nMerry-go-'rounds. in certain parts of the city, the
proceeds from same to go to the Wellfare League. The matter was
turned over to thA Mayor.
Mr. Jackson submitted a petetion of property owners requesting
that the city pave Pine lane. The Street Committee agreed to
investigate the cost of such paving and to report their findings
to attorney Morse so that a Resolution could be prepared for
presentation at the next Council meeting.
Mr. Grant reported thathe had obtained an offer for t he cleaning
and clearing of Sunny Side Park of it 250 . 00. The matter was tabled.
Mayor Boyd asked for authorization to purchase the necessary
spray material to complete the spraying of Center lake and to
spray We st La1,"e.
Motion was made by Grant, seconded by Konsler and carried that
Mayor Bqyd be given permission to purchase the necessary material
for the completion of the spraying of Center Lake. The spraying
of West lake was tabled.

Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum that the city purchase
e sma11 fire extinguisher as equipment for the rescue boat. Carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum and carried that the
Mayor be authorized to purchase Finger Printing equipment for the
Police department at a cost not to exceed $15.00.
Motion by Olivenbaum, seconded by Grant and carried that the city
purchase six ~y type blankets for use by the Police Department
and the P~re:- Deparbment .
The matter of grading and paving of East DeSoto street by Mr.
Middleton was discussed. No action taken.
The matter of lights at the Colored bathing beach was discussed.
No action was taken.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Grant and carried that the Clerk
be authorized to continue payments of twenty five dollars weekly
to the Life Guard at the J. C. Beach.
