SPECIAL MEETING

A Special meeting of the City Council of the city of Clermont
Was held at the city hall, Tuesday, May 24, 1955.
The meeting was called to order at ~:15 P. M. with the
following members present: Winston, Beal, Olivenbaum and
Grant/ Mayor Boyd, City attorney Morse and Supt. Sheldon
were also presento
Mr. Olivenbaum offered, and moved the adoption of, a
RESOLUTION wherein the City Council of the city of Clermont
went on record as favoring an assessment of up to one half
mill tax levy, by the State: 6n'.'propertie s in South Lake
countYi with the .:.roceeds to be used for the operation of
South ake Memorial Hospital. The motion was. seconded
by Mr. Grant and upon roll call vote the ayes were Winston,
Grant, Bealo and Olivenbaum. Nays: none. Absent: Konsler.
A copy of the Resolution appears immediately following these
minutes.

Motion by Grant, seconded by Olivenbaum, and carried
that "islandS" be removed from East avenue and the street
repaired on that part of East avenue lying directly West
of Oakhill cemetary.
Motion by Olivenbaum, seconded by Grant and carried
that due to the fact that the Northern half of Block 5
is the property of the city and that due to the fact that
such property will be offered for sale to the general
public by the city, that the cost of paving DeSoto street
from East avenue to Crystal lake drive be divided as follows:
One third to the property owners on the North side of the
street, one third to the property owners on the South side
of the street (said property owners being the city) and one
third to the city: or, in other words two thirds of the cost
to be paid by the city and one third by private property owners.
Motion by olivenbaum, seconded by Grant and carried that
radio operator and fireman Fullwood be given a two weeks
vacation with pay end that during his absence Mrs. Fullwood
a~tend his duties.
Motion by Grant, seconded by Olivenbaum and carried that
all full-time city employees who have been in the employ
of the city for one year, or more, be given vacations with
pay as follows: Two weeks each for all salaried employees
and one week each for all hourly rate employees.

Clerk Johnson called the Councils attentio~ to the fact that
Mr. Sheldon did not have a vacation last year due to the fact
that he was unable to get any one to assume gis dutie s, and
that in all probability the same condition would exist this year.
Mr. Beal moved that inasmuch as Mr. Sheldon did not receive
a vacatuo~ last year and that in. the event he did not recei~e
one this year that he be paid the equivalent of four weeks
extra salary as compensation for working during his vacation
period. The motion was seconded by Olivenbaum and carried.
Motion by Olivenbaum, secomded by Grant that the city purchase
from Eo C. Pemberton that certain tract of land bounded by Lake
Shore drive, Lake Minneola, Johnson Avenue and the old Clermont
Groveland highway, and centered by the A. C. L. railroad, at a
price of $800.00 and with the understanding that Mr. Pemberton
furnish a guaranteed title. Motion carried.
