An Adj ourned meeteing of the City Council of the City of
Clermont was held at the City Hall, March 15, 1955.
The meeting was called to order by Council President, E. Q.
Winston, at 7:30 P. M. with the following members pr~sent:
Winston, Olivenbaum and Konsler. Mr. Grant arrived later
in the evening. Absent: Beals. other Official present were
Mayor Boyd, City attorney Morse, Supt. 'sheldon, and Fireman
J. B. Fullwood. Visitors present were Mr. Engl~, Mr. & Mrs.
Richardson, Mr. Thacker and Charles Roe.
Minutes of the Regular meeting held March 1, 1955 and. the
Special meeting held March 7, 1955, were read and approved.
Mr. Englund asked the Council for permission to construct
a dock into Lake Minnehaha, at the foot of Third street,
stating that he fully understood that such dock would not
be for his personal use, but for the use of the general
public, and that he would not have any claim on the land
upon which the dock would be constructed.
Motion was made by Konsler, seconded by Mr. Olivenbaum
that Mr. Englund be given permission to construct the dock
as reu~uested, but with the full Understanding that the dock
would be a public affair. Motion carried.
Mr. Thacker spoke to the Council relative to the high~increase
in city taxes on his property and requ&sted that the valuations
be given furtther study. He further requested that the
Council give serious consideration to the valuation and amount
of taxe s on the tower when same was completed, a13 the board
of directors of Tower Corp. were somewhat concerned regarding
this matter. Mr. Thacker further informed the Council that
they expected to start construction of the tower within the
next thirty days and that it would be necessary to have water
available at that time. Mr. Thacker was assured that the
several matters mentioned would be given consideration.
Motion was made by Olivenba~, seconded by Konsler, that the
city proceed with the obtaining of a sixty foot street
rightofway to connect Chestnut street at lOth street and.
Eighth streets. Motion carried.
Motion was made by~onsler, seconded by Olivenbaum, that
the the city retain the South 30 feet of lot 18, Block 89,
for street rightofway. Motion carried.
Mr. Charles Hoe spoke to the Council relative to the closing
of Crystal Lake Drive from DeSoto to Broome streets (approx).
Chairman Winston informed Mr. Roe that the full membership of
the Council was not present and that therefore a vote on the
request would not be taken at that time.

Mr. Glen Middleton asked the Council if they had arrived at
any decision regarding the disposal of the five acres of land
where the old garbage pit was located; further stating that if
he was to be allowed to purchase it that he would like to know
at the earliest possible date. Mr. Middleton was assured that
he would be given an answer at the next Council meeting.
Motion was made by Honsler, seconded by Olivenbaum, that the
Clerk request the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad to repair
their Team Track from Eight street to 11th street. Motion carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum, that the Plat of
nForty Pinesn subdivision be approved and that the proper
city officials execute the Plat; that inasmuch as the streets
in said subdivision have been paved according to City
specifications that such streets be accepted by the city and
that the city accept a deed for such streets wheh delivered.
Motion carried.
Motion by Grant, seconded by 01 ivenbaum , that the Plat of
Lake Highlands Estate s be approved and that the proper city

Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum, that the city
purchase a car load of siX inch, class 150, transite pipe.
Motion carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Grant, that the city purchase
an 8" pipe jack at an approximate price of $280.00.
Motion carried.

Chairman Winston read a letter from some of the Negroe
citizens of Clermont, wherein they requested that the city
assist them in the locating and providing of a bathing
beach. The matter was referred to Mr. Grant, chairman of the
Parks committee.
attorney Morse recommended that the City share with the city
of Mascotte in the expenses of preparing a proposed Charter
amendment concerning Revenue certificates, at a cost not to
exceed 100.00 to the city of Clermont.
Motion by Grant, seconded by Konsler, that the attorney's
recommendation be accepted and that the city participate in
the expenses of such work at a cost not to exceed 100.00.
Motion carried.
Motion by Olivenbaum, seconded by Konsler, that the Fire
limits Ordinance be amended to include all property within
the C-l zone. Motion carried.
Motion by Olivenbaum, seconded by Grant and carried that
the city engage the firm ofrWolfe & Konsler to construct
a nine wheel traffic roller at a cost of ~OO .00; it being
understood that the city is to furnish all tires.
Mayor Boyd recommended that the city purcha4e additional
traffic signs.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Grant, and carried that the
city purchase siX "Yield" and siX "Dead End" signs.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum and carried
that the city execute a contract with DiXie Tank and Bridge
company for maintenance on the city water tank. The contract
to be for five years at a cost of ~,850.00.
Clerk Johnson read a letter from Sun Chevrolet Company
rewqesting permission to locate a Western Union directional
sign at the intersection of Eighth street and Highway 50.
Clerk Johnson was instructed to advise Sun Chevrolet Company
that no advertising si~s whatsoever were allowed on Highway
50 and therefore their request could not be granted.
Motion by Konsler. seconded by Olivenbaum and carried
that bills be paid.
Cl rk Johnson was authorized tOiilpurchase between five and
siX hundred dollars wqrth of Street name signs, provided
payment could be made after November next from next years
budget.

the meeting adjourn from day to day.
