A regularly adjourned meeting of'1the City Council of the City
of ~lermont was held at the City hull, Tuesday, February 15,
1955.
The meeting was called to order at '7:30 p. M. by council Chairman
E. G. Vlinston. All council members were present with the
exception of ~Ilr. Grant who came in later. Others present were r~8.yor
Bpyd, City attorney r.lorse, Supt, Sheldon. Visitors present were
r.1r. Fisk, r.1r. Clover, Mr. Meeker, rIr. Ferguson, rffr. Brown and
Hr. Driggs.
r.1r. Fisk stated that he was contE'mplating tl-le purchase of lots
1 ~: 2, Block 20 and that before completing the transaction he
would like to know if it would be possible to have DeSoto or
Second street paved to his property and also could he obtain
a lease from the city for the lc.ke frontage of his proposed lots.
Hr. \'!inston informed rr.:r. Fisk that he felt certain that a
sa tisfactory lease could be worked out and that with rega "ds t11e pav-1 u
of the street he was referring the matter to the Streets Committee
wp.o would look into the situation and make Ii report within a few days.
tTr. Clover, of Power Braak and Equipment Co. submitted a letter
wherein he requested permission to bid on a Garbage packer for
sale to the city. r~r. ;,'linston informed r~r. Clover that some
decision would be made later in the meeting regarding the purchase
of a Garbage Packer.
Mr. Meeker and Hr. Ferguson asked permission to hold the a.nnual
J. C. Gopher derby on Eontrose street on Wednesday afternoon,
March 23, 1955.

The minutes of the regular meeting held February I, 1955 were
read and approved as read.
r~r. Konsler, reported for the Streets Committee, stated that
progress was being made on the paving of Blo.am street.
r.~r. ;~linston, reporting for the Water Committee, recommended that
a six inch water line be extended down Bowman street from
ninnehaha Avenue to Palm lane and tha.t Fire hydrr-nts be installed
at BOlJll"Clan Street and fal'c,1 lane and at Hinnehaha Avenue and Fast
Avenue. Mr. Konsler moved that the recommendations of the Water
Committee be carried out and tha.t installation of the water linea
and hydrants be made aliI soon as possible. The moti.on WliU~ seconded
by Mr. Olivenbaum and carried.
Mr. Beales, reporting for the Street Lighting Committee,
recommended tha.t street li~lts be installed at Bloxam and
MontrQse and at the end of that portion of Linden street
running West from East avenue. Hr. Beal moved that the streets
light be installed aa recommended. The motion waa seconded by Hr.
Konsler and carried.

intersection of Broome & Fifth streets. Chairman Winston referred
the reconmemdation to the Streets Committee.

rliayor Boyd reported that the Lake County Health Iā¬partment would
have a drag line in Clermont ~ednesday morning, February 16, 1955
to start work on the old garbage pit.
P"r. Boyd reported tha t the Police departtlent had been doing
exce llant work by nppl"lehending law breakers.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum that clerk Johnson
be authorized to issue 80 HI'S. Lula Keene a duplicate tax
sale certificate for certificate #4, dated July 194'7, in the
amount of $25.80 and covering the South lOOt of l@ts 14 & 15,
Block 58. Arthur George and W~ B. Harman appeared on the
application as bondsmen. Kotion carried.

insurance firm of Stokes and Fields place Builders Risk
imlUrgnce on the new constructiGln a.t South Lake MemmDial
Hospital.

Motion by Konsler, secQnded by Olivenbaum and carried
that Personal Preperty tax statements numbered 1553 in
the amount C)f $8.00 andnUlllbered 1638 in the amount =f
~37.21 be canceled as the a.ssessments had been made thrcough
error.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Olivenbaum and carried that
Bomeste~d exemption be allowed to E. Carrier on Tax sta.tement
b:rrmb~red 724 in the amGnmt of $41.28 as the ASlile8lil~r had
omitted allowfng the exemptiQn through errlDr.
ClErk Johnson read a letter from Dixie Bridge & Tank company
suggesting that a new maintenance contract be entered into
between the City of Clermont and said Dixie Tank & Bridge Co.,
The ~atter was tabled until a later meeting.
Motion was made by Konsler, seconded by Grant and carried
that all bids subuitted by local dealers on a. truck and garbage
packer body be returned to the dealers UllQpened. Carried.
rJotion was made by Konsler, seconded by Grant~land carried
that the City advertise for bids in the local pa.per for a
packer type garbage body of net less that 12 cubic fair'dis
with truck chasis to meet body manufacturers specifications,
body to be installed at factory, lettered and delivered
within 45 days F. o. B. Clermont. Bids to be opened rr;arch 1,
1955, with the city reserving tlw right to reject and or all
bids.
