BOARD OF ~QUALIZATION MEETING

The City Council of the City of Clermont, sitting
as a Board of Equalization, met at the City hall
September 14, 1954.
The Equalization Board meeting was called to order by
Council President Arthur George at 7:30 P. M. with
all Board members present.
Following is a schedule of the hearing and the action
taken:
Reddick's Super Market, represented in person, protesting
Business Personal property tax. Action: reduced to 13,200.00
O. H. Keene, in person, protesting amount of valuation on
realestate where home is located (see 25-22-25) Action:
reduced to land value of 53, plus same percentage increase
of other adjacent lake front properties. Improvements to
be added in 55.
Mr. Hoekendorfer and Mr. Pardoe, each in person, asking
questions regarding taxes and valuations. No protest.
T. C. Cork, representing Carl White, protesting increase
in land valuation. No reduction allowed as valuation
strictly equal to other lake front properties.
T. C. Cork, representing Fred J. Fox, protesting increase
in land valuation. No reductiQn allowed as valuation
stricyly equal to other lake front preperties.
T. C. Cork, representing William Oswalt, and William Oswalt
in person, protesting valuation and the addition of improvements
which should not have been added until 55. Action: Improvements
deducted and to be added in 55, and over all valuation
reduced to 5500.00. .
A. P. Long, in person, protesting valuation placed on
home. Action: Mr. Long informed that house will be
remeasured and calculations remade.

A. P. Long, in person, protesting land value increase in
Alto. Vista addition. Action: N~ of lot A reduced to 650.00
S~ of lot A reduced to 200.00.
A. P. Long, in person, protesting land value increase on lot
16, 20, 22, 23 & 24, Alta Vista. Action: The five lots in
question reduced to 600.00 each.
William Lee, representing George Harrison, protesting increase
of land value on lake front property sec. 25-22-26.
No reductiQn allowed as property found t~ be apparised equal
to other lake front properties.
W. H. McQuistion, in person, protesting increase of household
personal property valuation unless all other household
valuations raised accordingly. Action: reduced to 600.00
William Boyd, in person and representing Mary Boyd( protesting
land increase on parcel 1455 (Herring Hooks Estate)
Action: Reduced to 3,500.00.
C. J. Linder, by ,telegram, protesting valuation placed on
home. No reduction allowed as found to be equal with
other like properties.
Harvey and Theresa Speck, by letter, protesting valuation of
Home. Action: no reduction as found to be equal with other
properties. '

Howard & Hazel Nash, by letter, protesting land increase
valuation on lake front properties. Action: no reduction
allowed as val~ation equal to other lake front properties.
American Oil Company, by letter, protesting increased
building valuation; Action; No reduction allowed as
increase due to additional building.
George Muceneek, by letter, protesting the valuation on
personal property tax on property recently sold by him,
the protest being that as property was sold, he did not
owe any tax. Action: Property in question owned by rAUceneek
on the first of January and therefore liable for tax.
Mazx R. Smith, by letter, protesting increase on land value
lot 159 Clermont Heights. Act~Qn: no reduction granted as
property equal in valuation to others.
Harper Motor Company, by letter, protesting the increase of
valuatien on Business Personal property and furnishing statement
of evidence. Action: Reduced to '7,500.00
A. W. Thacker, by letter for G. W. Rutan, protesting valuation
placed on house trailer,'clatming same was not taxable.
Action: Ruled that trauler was taxable and no reduction allowed.
E. JOUrphy, by letter, protesting increase in Personal property
valuation providing a general increase had not been made.
Action: Reduced to '700.00..
w. A. Burmeister, by letter, stating that Personal property
v~luation in his name should be changed to Mrs. Gross.
Action: Change ordered. '
Ed. l~orris, by letter, stating that hils valuation on Household
business property covered two apartments and that only one was
furnished. Action: Reducted to one apartment-aBO.OO
Daniel F. and Mary L. Sullivan and Helen Dineen, by letter,
protesing increase in land valuation onnhome. Action:
not reduction as increase equal to others.
Mrs. Florence Bowman, by letter, protesting increase in
land valuation on lots 2-3-4-5, Block 1, Riveria Heights,
due to lots in question being in sink-hole and not suitable
for residental property. Action: Lot 2 reduced to 300.00
and lots 3-4 & 5 reduced to 200.00 each.
Cantwell's cash Store, by letter, protesting increase of
valuations on Store building and Stock. Action: No reduction
allowed as increase on building was correction of an error
and increase on stock would not be decreased unless protest
supported by evidence.
There being no others to be heard, the meeting was adjourned
upon motion by Olivenbaum, second by Sickler and carried.
