PUBLIC HEARING
.
A Public Hearing fer the consideratien ef a new Zsning
Ordinance was held at the city hall, Friday, June 25,
1954, with all Ceuncil members being present. Others
present were Mayer Boyd, W. H. McQuistien, Don McCaffrey,
Mrs. Resemary Y0ung and Mrs. Alice Lockmiller.
The meeting was called t@ order at 8:00 P. M. by C.uncil
President Arthur George.
Mr. Wins ten read a Res.lution passed by the Lake County
Realtsrs Ass0ciation, wherein they were epposed to the
erectien .f signs and the eperation ef business (ether
than these directly related to the traveling public)
aleng the highways. Mr. Winsten stated that he wished
te again strongly emphasize that he Was ~pposed te allewing
any structures of any nature to be erected along the si.::',~~ts,
...highways, within the city.'lim1ts without having a reasonable
set-back frcm the read rlght-~f-way, an<< that it was his
epinien that sUKh set-back should be thirty five feet.
Mrs. Resemary Yeung requested that the CGuncil extend
the T.C ZGne eastward t. a point bey~nd East avenue
whereby lets 12-44-45-46, Bleck 9, Sunny Side unit
WGuld be included. ~s. Yeung explained to the C.uncil
that the lots in questien had little value if Zened residental
but were well located business lets. Mrs. Young further
brought out the fact that although a peteti0n had been presented
t. the Council requestien that the l~ts in questiQn bemain
residental, that the pr0perties ef the pecple signing the
petetion were actually l~cated some distance away and separated
by b~th the highway and Highlands avenue.
Mr. MecaffreWjstated that he was epposed te the side yard
requirements for buildings aleng highway 27. That in his
opinion this property should be zoned C-l- er C-2 and net
T. C. as pr~posed.
Chairman Ge~rge stated that all requests made to the CQuncll
would be given consideratien.
Metion was made by Kons.ler, secended by Sickler, that meeting
adjeurn.
